Well I was actually thinking 15$ was fair at first but people kept telling me I should charge like... $35 to $45 for something like this and well that didn't seem fair to me at all @__@.

The only thing about this sort of image that takes so long is the lines. Otherwise I'd be happy to do a bust/headshot for $8-$10 if I was painting it in my line-less style. So how does $13-15 for one with lines and $8-10 sound for one for no lines?

I want to be fair for my customers, but I also want to be fair to myself too @__@

I only said that the price was a little high due to the fact i've commissioned similar pieces for a lower price. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3293746/ This for example, which was $15 so I agree with you that that is a fair price for a bust! XD
Of course you have to be fair to yourself, after all it takes your time and effort to produce the pieces :3 I'm fishing around at the moment, and am also waiting on a ref sheet, so I will get back to you :)

(I was being pretty sarcastic. I in fact, like 3d3n, got yelled at for pricing 'too low' and every one of my friends and all of the people I commissioned said I should raise them, so based on community voting I did. )

But I wholeheartedly agree 20 bucks is nothing for this level of detail.

So I can't honestly say a full colored pic like this for 20$ is a ripoff of anykind. I guess there are people out there who expect things to be free, but this is a business, and most good artists get upwards of 11bucks an hour for just some lineart. which will equate to 60 bucks just for some fancy lines.

The problem is, there us supply and demand, start too high and people may be hesitant to buy, too low, and either you get people taking advantage of you, as I have seen happen before, or people yell at you saying raise your prices. The problem is finding the middle ground. x3

You obviously found a middle, $10 for a badge is good. Within reason for a decent badge.

And $20 for an ink is good, if a bit 'low' from what I have seen

But you make up for it there with the $40 for a color pic, which to me, is prolly a bit 'higher' then average, but still within reason.

and refs are always fun, so 50 is a decent price for one, if again, a bit on the 'high' side, but still within reason.

And I agree, $20 is a great deal, I'd say I'm surprised not many people have come to her asking for art, but then again, artists that don't draw large boobs and erect cocks everywhere, or even compromise and draw them either in commissions, even at a higher price, tend to get looked over in this fandom for the ones that do. XD

I think between my horny teenage pushing of it, and soon after, everyone either telling her she should/needs to, or asking for commissions with sexual themes, it pushed her away more. xP

I know of people that have spent weeks on art, doing beautiful backgrounds and such, just for the simple 2 hour pic they did out of boredom gets more favs, comments, and sometimes views then the one they worked hard on. What makes it worse is when people comment and fav photos you have taken of like, storm clouds or trees, or trees with storm clouds in the background that you just sorta, quickly snapped cause you thought it looked nifty, over hard work you spent long hours working on. x3

As I know many artists, here is a rough sum of prices for art.
Badge: $15-$20, varying on medium, not counting cheap $1 commisions that are often quickly drawn, maybe $5 for a black & white badge.
B&W Bust: $5 usually.
B&W Sketch: $5 to $15, again, medium varies. Some people use higher end pencils then others
B&W line art: $10 to $20, medium varied
Colored Bust: $15 to $35, medium varied.
Colored full body: $20 to $40
Background: Some charge $5 extra, high detail background often goes for higher price
Extra character: $5 to $10 extra per character, varies on artist, some let a second in free, others may charge more. Art content may cost more as some people charge more for porn, while others that suck at clothing may charge more for non-porn art.

And keep in mind, this is the normal person, that goes to cons and sits in artist ally and draws most of the day, not the high end people that can afford to charge like, $75 a pic plus like another $15 if you want to get the pic updates and have a say up to 3 times in the arts design looks before it is finished.

To say $20 is expensive is to say... a 3 for 1 deal on something is a rip off. XD I have been around a lot, as both an artist, all be it some what failed lately, and some one with a lot of knowledge of prices for art, as I like to shop around when I go to cons, right here for a pic like this, 3d3n could charge $35 to $45 like people told her to, and that still would be some what reasonable, so $20 for a colored bust plus a non-generic background is at the minimum a GOOD price. =P

For something like this? Around $20, I'd be willing to knock it down a bit if you don't mind it being lineless. The lines like this take quite awhile and are a pain in the wrist to do.
