Dang the last stanza got me off rhythm due to that first verse, I was reading the poem out loud and it flowed really well, but then that extra metric syllable kinda broke it.
How about...

A time of peace to which we trot. (grammar be damned)
No pity needed for our lot.
Keep your doors locked and windows drawn.
Our night is darkest before dawn.

8 metric syllables each and I think it flows better?

A slightly darker side of you than I'd expect.
Very well worded, kinda suits my midset lately.

I've been listening to Goth music and bands like Type O Negative almost my whole life. When I was in high school I had some Goth friends who introduced me to groups like The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees. I love darkwave and industrial as well as dark metal. As far as vampire stuff goes i've been a fan of Anne Rice's Lestat books since I was a kid and love the Queen of the Damned film & soundtrack. My current character is pretty much based on Lestat from that movie. She's a dark, gothy-rocker bard who despite being good still enjoys indulging in a pony's neck now and then. She only does it when it's consensual, though.
