[So, Last Week...] Heeellll No Nurse (Undertale Anniversa...
So last week....
...was the fifth anniversary of the release of Undertale. A great game to be sure, and maturing into a multiverse (or...something) of an indie darling. Interesting characters, bizarre story, and themes that grow from lighthearted to smashing that heart with a club (literally, see Jeevil).
I'm not crazy-crazy for the series as I know some people are, but I can't help but appreciate it's impact. This near one-person show was a cavalcade of character, story, and music that blended so well together that it quite practically beat out triple AAA titles around it, proving that simple graphics don't hold down a game from being brilliant. Not only that, theories and discoveries abound within the game, leading to discussions that persist even after it's been played through....I mean, lets face it, when there's a mechanic that gives you a 1/354 shot at seeing a particular screen, yeah...people are gonna want to know.
The game's supposed twin (literally?), Deltarune was also a hit, and showed us a new perspective, but the story isn't over. And for Undertale's anniversary, new screenshots and info were released about Deltarune's Chapter 2...and no doubt those will lead to theories to fans as well. Even I have some thoughts, sure that Noelle Holiday, who was a minor character in the original Deltarune, is a big part, along with the condition of her father, given the hospital getups in one of the screenshots....
And Chapter 2 is supposedly going to be released (at least in a beta-ey way) by the end of the year!
So congrats to Annoying Dog for finally getting his tail in gear to give people the next chapter in a great developing series that, I think, inspires other creators to get out there and show their stuff.

I was just thinking how amazing some of these indie games are, made by small groups of people. I was just watching the end credits for "Dust: An Elysian Tale" last night (I love the credits theme) and envied the fact that it too was made by a small group, and made me wish I could make something amazing such as it too.
Ah yes, when a small studio does tremendus work with what little they have....then they grow up and become like Activision.
Seriously though, the fact that big consoles these days are looking toward the indie scene really shows the ackowledgement to how there are diamonds in the rough out there that can truely shine if given the chance.
Oooh, I'd like to be making amazing things like that too...
We're TRYING....
Oh I didn't mean it like that heh.
