Why isn't he affected?

Some cats aren't affected at all by catnip. Just think of catnip as alcohol or even marijuana. It affects each cat differently.

Hard to say - I haven't seen many drunk cats.

Oh, I was referring to how alcohol affects humans. It affects each of us differently. Me, I become sad. My ex-wife became overly amorous, with anyone except me. Some people become belligerent and others become paranoid. The same things seem to happen to cats when they get around catnip. I've even seen full-grown cats walk up to it, smell it, and walk away like it was just something to walk through.

S'ok, I knew what you meant - I was just taking you literally and trying to imagine catnip as alcohol :) Yeah, I become imaginative/happy after a few drinks. My dad used to get sullen and volatile.

I'm the sad drunk. I hate me when I'm like that so I don't drink to excess anymore. Of course, I don't drink to excess any less.

Well at least she hasn't done anything silly, like thrashing about, or pawing at her bikini and knocking it off in her nip fueled state. xD

This is quite an accurate depiction of felines reacting to catnip. Some start acting like they're high and others fall asleep. Some get playful as hell and others get equally mean and possessive.
