Levelling the 'karp was a pain in the ass. So many battles where it would be the first one out, only to be exchanged for the awesome might of Charmander (usually -meleon by that point) or Butterfree.

Oh meh gosh yes. I once found a shiny Magikarp on the global trade station and I got it, and then it evolved into a red Gyarados. I'm still confused as to why gold turns into red. But red it cool wit' me. :D

I actually caught one of these before. I was trading a ton of Magikarps to bring my collection over from another version and I fished up a gold one by luck. It evolved into Red Gyarados.
