Felt the need to draw this and jump it up the list. The internet is not a nice place to be in. At least in regards to having your own opinion. If you decide to go only with the agreed upon opinions then you're fine. But places like Twitter, Facebook, Discord, Reddit, etc. all tend to facilitate people finding like-minded individuals, even when that group is actually about something else. And these people exist in spaces that allow, if not encourage them to then bully en masse anyone that disagrees with their accepted dogma, especially when these people agree with the platform's ideology. These individuals tend to find their consensus and the media they follow agreeing with them as justification for being horrible and abrasive towards anyone not falling in line. And so long as they stay within the bounds presented by that platform then they are allowed to get away with this. As the platform will not consider their acts to be doing anything wrong.
And my thoughts on this are thus. They do not matter. You matter. Your opinions matter and bullying should be condemned in all forms. It doesn't matter if they're bullying you because they believe themselves to be the moral authority of the argument. It doesn't matter if they're bullying you in the interest of "informing you" of your "incorrect" opinions. The fact remains that if they are dismissing any opinion you have regardless of any evidence to support your opinions and attacking you for having those opinions, that is bullying. And you should never cater to bullies. Never bend the knee to these ideological bigots and wrap yourself in the shield of knowing that by not resorting to bullying, YOU, and not them, are in the morally superior position. And if they cannot accept you for being you, then you really should not want anything to do with them.
