if I need to do dark darks, like the majority of this piece, I start with a wash of a mix of carbon black and titanium white, so its quite a dark grey, and then I layer my shading over that - so the dark grey is like a primer to darken up the whole thing without having to do lots of layers...
I don't have any tutorials at this time... I've thought about making one - but my techniques vary from piece to piece, and I"m always experimenting, so I haven't really gotten past the thinking stage... Plus I always feel weird trying to share my techniques as something to learn from, since I'm still learning myself.
Heh, as far as the recoil, the Python is a very soft-shooting pistol, and the reason why is that it's also very heavily-built. This extra inertia helps soak up the recoil from firing as well as making them extremely durable. In the opinion of many firearms collectors and writers, the Python is one of the finest revolvers ever built. (I tend to agree which is why my first revolver was a Python)
You might be slightly mistaken, but not entirely. It's true, some magnum loads kick like a mule, and that school of thought is strengthened by all these videos of inexperienced folks shooting such guns for the amusement of seeing their reaction.
I can testify to Yilares, that the Python is very soft on it's kick and is a joy to shoot, heck, the .45 round gives a lot more kick than the .357. At least, from my experience, the latter. See if you can get your hands on a handgun like the Python, you might enjoy the experience!
Nnnnnnoow that I've finished that silly gun thing, gotta love the lighting on this, Kacey! Even though you might not see this reply, I don't know... XD

A very nicely-curved vixen with a pair of hand cannons and the obvious skill in using them. Truly, this is a woman after my own hearts.
And speaking of the art rather than the subject, this is truly magnificent. I am not a proper art critic, but I find myself staring at the colors. And also the colors that don't simply represent her rear end. *ahem*
I wholly approve.

Yeah, I too noticed the lack of any "rig" of sorts to carry spare ammo. Maybe she'd just pistol whip the motherfuckers like Earp? OR Maybe she has a "snatch pack" in the front that we can't see. <.<
Otherwise, that's my only complaint about this piece. The rest is just stunning. :D

I'm telling you this song , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-ZFNc0K9SM is would serve as the perfect theme song, especially with the lighting and clothing.
I love this one. You did a great job on coloring it, and fixed everything the people pointed out during the WIP stages.
I especially like the lighting. Green = win, and green illuminated hindside = epic win.
And the way you colored the guns is pure and simple breathtaking.

Oh yeah, this is a nice looking piece. I notice that the colors of this piece don't seem as "smooth" as most of your other works, but that seems to give it a darker, grittier feel, rather than the upbeat and cheerful mood of your other pieces. The lighting is really dynamic, with it coming from the lower left hand corner of the picture is certainly an interesting angle. That is one cool Vixen. Oh, and the still smoking barrel is a very nice touch I might add. I need to find the time and money to go to one of these conventions; I'd love to own this piece.
Thank you =D..
What I did with the lighting, was I left all the areas that are highlit white - I didn't paint those sections of the paper at all until the very end, when I painted them the light blue-green - but I did all the rest of the shading in the piece first - If I had painted the whole piece and then added in the highlights over painted areas, it wouldn't look nearly as contrasty - I had to plan it out in advance. So pretty much just decide where the direction of light is coming from, block in your bright highlights, and then leave those sections alone as you shade the rest of the image, and then paint them in to finish it up =)

It was a victim of its' own design you might say. The Python required a good deal of hand-fitting by expert gunsmiths, which drove up the price. The King Cobra which replaced the Python in the lineup didn't require the time and labor consuming hand fitting. However, it wasn't as accurate (or coveted) as the pistol it replaced.
Oh, if yours is used, something to watch for is that the Python has a tendency to get out of tune. When this happens, the cylinder doesn't quite match up with the barrel and shaves a little off one side of the bullet. If your pistol has a tendency to spit things off to the sides when firing, that's likely the cause.
@.@ that is quite possibly the sexiest thing I've ever seen. She really looks like she gonna turn around and glare at me. GREAT one!!! (sorry I don't normally gush, but daaaaaaamn!) I love that she doesn't have her fingers on the triggers. Makes me think of my husband XD he's huge on gun safety. The lighting is fantastic!
once again sorry for the gush ;3

The lighting is great, it gives the guns the shiny look since they are chrome and like the fact that smoke coming from one of the guns. Plus, the suit gives her a Black Widow look which works very well in this picture.
Dual Colt Python .357 magnum revolvers are kool, but I prefer Dual Slienced USP .45s and a Slienced SCAR-H Assault Rifle.

my main gun of choice well be a RPD (Ruchnoy Pulemet Degtyarova) \with 200 drum my side arms is the same as her's dual Colt Python .357 magnum revolvers but they would custom as well as the RPD. the RPD would be platinum and the drum is platinum as well, the Colt Pythons are platinum too.
