A long time ago, when I first discovered a mushroom biome in Minecraft, I was inspired by the mycelium blocks and wanted to create a character based on it.
This is Mycelium. She lives on a small mushroom biome, between a jungle and grasslands, jutting out from the coast of an island surrounded by ocean. I think she is some type of fox (I was really into wolves and foxes at the time of creation; and still am!).
Atop her head are two small toadstools, which I think are growing there. Mushrooms like to grow in dark and damp places, so living in a burrow underneath mycelium, her habitat promotes fungus growth.
If you look closely, you can see the markings on her ears, back, and left paw. She has a speckled tail, and fur the color of ash and mycelium. (Hence her name.)
"Myci" is a nickname I came up for her. I drew a little mushroom next to her name for some additional fungi.
Mushrooms are really delicious, don't you think? I like cooking them with onions for an easy meal.
I'm willing to bet that, living on a mushroom biome, most of Mycelium's diet involves mushrooms and vegetation. Yum.
This was created from a tracing sheet. I unfortunately couldn't re-locate the trace image, nor the source or artist who provided it. I just nabbed it off Google Images some years ago and used it to craft this character image. I colored it in and added details.

Hey, thanks so much! I'm glad you like her design. It's actually quite old. ^^;
The hair over one eye was based on my own hairstyle at the time, as well as Hanako's from Katawa Shoujo. It seemed fitting, for whatever reason. Maybe she is very shy and likes having something to cover her face, or doesn't particularly care about hair maintenance, since she is a "lone wolf" most days (haha).
You know, at first I was iffy on the color of her head-hair, and even against head-hair at all, as it is hard for me to imagine this sort of creature with human-like hair. But the longer I thought about it, the more I kept thinking "who cares? This is completely fictional!" so the hair stayed. ^_^

Huh, I never thought of that! I guess that is kinda badass, hehe. Rough n' tuff on the outside, but meek and shy on the inside!
The mushrooms are my favorite part, too. :) I thought I was so clever when I did that, haha. Just like, "She lives in a mushroom biome, so mushrooms grow on her head!"
I wonder if they're the kind of mushrooms you can eat. I feel like they would grow back if someone plucked them off her head, in true cartoony fashion. 😁
