Lamiya-Le from my comic "Knuckles Remix".
This is her new look for those of you who only know her old look. --This is how she will appear in the comic.
She has always been Knuckles "Sister" in many many old role plays and stories I've done. That hasn't changed yet..:) (This dates from way back SINCE 1997when she was FIRST CREATED!!)

I like detailed outfits alot... :) Especially when putting them into the 'comic versions' because comic versions actually, are supposed to be far more detailed in things. (Which is why I'm glad they started to change a few things to that finally! Yay!)
The coloring I kept within the "complimentary colors" as well as the "color limit" of most cartoons, 7. (Some companies choose fewer like 4 or 5.)
Lara-Su original's design (Pink, Purple, Red, light blue, cobalt blue.) or Athair Brown, light brown, red, green, yellow, Mina's old design, Julie-Su.
Though the game characters and SATAM characters have way less. Only 3 tones. :) Which I can see why people would people don't like so many colors then. (Actually Blaze, is about the only GAME character with 6 colors. Dark Purple, light purple, pink, red, gold, peach.
I guess I was also elaborate in detail so that no one could try and rip me off again with design because it's "Too Generic". As I've heard that excuse time and time again.

I think it's mostly just the multiple contrasting colors that make the over all appearance somewhat hard on the eyes, especially when it's something you have to look at for fifty panels. It's mostly because they've become used to the game colors, as you said, which was primarily due to the limitations of the game systems forcing the character designers to limit their use.
So now, it's sort of become the norm that people prefer just out of historical reflex.
