<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>Smiles...smiles at Mekie's display of gratitude, the Trog looking back at the rest of the party doubtfully, perhaps to see if anyone else needs help swimming the distance.
Sheathing his sword and extinguishing the oil lantern he was carrying, Na'Nfr plunges the grotto into a dark purple twilight lit only by the fungus carried by Mekie and Smiles. Then the Swordsage attempts the swim himself. It quickly becomes apparent that Anubians are hopeless swimmers. Thrashing around, the normally graceful Na'Nfr starts to go under. Before Smiles can act however, Girthy sticks out the end of Whault's old staff and gives Na'Nfr a boost to the surface, the peach colored jackal clinging miserably to the end of the long wooden length. "Eh lad...perhaps we should find another way to get ye across? A rope perhaps?"
About that time, Whault emerges from the water, gasping and sputtering at the edge of the island, having simply walked the distance along the bottom of the pool. His heavy armor anchored him very effectively, making swimming quite impossible of course...

Na'Nfr chuffs softly, gladly accepting that rescue from Girthy, then nods softly, frowning at the water that even makes the Anubian's kohl bleed down his cheeks under that mask. "Perhaps that would be a good idea." (ooc lol.. oh god- wonderful 'wet dog' portrayal hun!)
mekie will look around to find the 10ft pole she atempted vaulting over the water with "my rope is still hanging right here dose anyone else have a rope we can toss them?"
looking up at my rope still hanging from the hole in the ceiling i look to it and the 10ft pole. (if i tied the rope around one end of the pole would it reach far enough over for them to catch it?)

The pole is floating in the water some 15 feet away where you dropped in your attempt to swim, but you judge that if you tie it to the end of the rope and Na'Nfr stands as deep in the pool as he can, he might just be able to catch the tip of the pole. Maybe. It would be much simpler to use another rope...
Na'Nfr earperks at that question, and fishes out his own length of rope, tossing it to Whault with a sheepish smile at not having thought of that before.
(OOC not- people need to reply to posts that concern others so we have a popup- apparently me not knowing this had BEEN posted is what was holding the game up- sorry, all!)

Taking Na'Nfr's rope, Whault plucks a fist-sized piece of rubble from the island and ties it to one end to give it a bit more mass. Once completed, he takes a firm hold on the loose end before tossing the rock-on-a-rope back across the water.
"If one of you can serve as an anchor for that end, the weaker swimmers should be able to hand-over-hand their way across. After that, we can pull you over."
(( Ah, no worries. Sometimes it's a little tricky to figure out where to thread the replies - it only sends the notification to the reply, but a lot of the time it's something multiple people may want to see. ))
