Doc and his griffon friend Snowfire followed Switchblade down the quiet market street. This part of the market had only a few scattered patrons browsing the stalls and open shops that lined both sides of the streets. Doc passed a stall with a large sign that read 'Herbal Remedies - Better than Megacorp meds!' The earthpony doctor questioned the claim, but he wasn't here to shop for chems.
"We're running out of street to walk down, you know?" Snowfire asked.
Switch glanced over her shoulder. She smiled. "Listen, colts, you two said you were in the mood for noodles, and I told you that I will give you the best noodle experience this side of Seaddle." She turned and approached a stall with a simple long wooden bar.
A pale cream earthony stood behind the bar, her gaze on the gas grill she was using to cook. Smoke wafted up from a large wok filled with various ingredients mixed with noodles. She cracked several eggs on an adjacent frying pan. As the yokes sizzled, she turned to greet the approaching customers.
"Well if it ain't my favorite customer," the chef chirped, "How are you doing, Switch?"
"Oh, just the usual complaints Paddy," Switch replied. "Rent's too high, pay's too low. I brought you a couple stallions who need to experience what a real bowl of noodles tastes like."
The chef grinned and scooped some of the wok's contents into three bowls. She then added several vegetable toppings, including a cooked egg in each bowl. The bowls slid gently across the worn grain of the bar in front of the three customers.
Doc looked down at his bowl. He brought it close and blew his breath over it to cool it a bit. He lifted the bowl and too ka sip of the broth. Doc's ears perked up. "Oh, this is amazing! Hey, Snow, have you--"
The griffon lifted his beak out of a half-drained bowl. "Mhm, yeah," he muttered with a full mouth. "Another, please!"
