Black Ice is the sole survivor of the Last Great Armageddon that killed off his entire species. He is the overlord of the cold, as he can summon absolute zero temperatures with his power. It is said that his horn if broken off will have the ability to summon such temperatures as well. However, he can regenerate the horn if it gets broken off -- at a cost, it causes him to bleed and be in debilitating pain for weeks until the horn grows back. There is one ointment that can help alleviate the pain, but it is such a rare and tiny plant that it takes too much work to grow and produce a pitiful small amount of ointment. Later it was discovered that "Buddha Mode" Azar is the only one that has the ability to suppress Black Ice's pain as he synergies and helps him regenerate his horn rapidly in minutes instead of weeks.

After the untimely death of his parents and siblings, he vowed to fight for righteousness, not evil. He is immune to Ratchet's telekinetic powers, which he cannot be mind-read. He may be mortal, but with his ability to summon absolute zero temperatures, he can be considered immortal and invulnerable. It is said that if one sees the eclipse ball coming at them, consider themselves as dead and completely annihilated as the eclipse ball itself would freeze and shatter anything in its path.

When faced with another round of the Great Armageddon, Black Ice teamed up with Ratchet and his friends and they fought evil to the end -- righteousness will defeat the evil.
