Edit: Changing the title so I can stop getting names.
He's really high spirited. A real go-getter fella. Active and free. Tends to try and steer himself away from drama. Which makes him a tiny bit on the selfish side as the moment he sees something that's going to ruin his mood he weasels his way out. His orientation is ambiguous. He treats everyone the same unless they are sad then he either ignores it or tries to anyway. Not particularly drawn to one gender or the other his main draw is a good time.

Wow, he looks amazing. So much personality in his face.
The name Tobias comes to mind. I know it might sound more threatening than he looks, but to me it seems to fit. And it's an awesome name. Plus I think it might be fun to have a character whose name might make people think one thing, but when they get to know him, they change their mind entirely.

Noel.
The name originated in French and means as much as "Christmas". It's intersex and I think it fits him - he does look a bit christmas elf-like, not to mention his red-green color scheme. Also, his personality seems to fit to the holiday, as well, so... Noel. :)

Should name him Ganesha, or Gan for short.
for this reason that wikipedia gives :D
Aum
Ganesha is identified with the Hindu mantra Aum (ॐ, also called Om). The term oṃkārasvarūpa (Aum is his form), when identified with Ganesha, refers to the notion that he personifies the primal sound.
he looks like a dancer and primal sounds are what i think of when i think really heavy deep techno <3

I really think the name Cassius fits him~ :3 He looks like he could go by an androgynous nickname - Cassie, or something of the like. Also, I was recently reading up on Emperor Nero (lol) and that name popped up almost immediately, so... Hey, I thought I'd give it a try :3
There are lots of other awesome names here too, though hahaha. Good luck! (He's really cute <3 )

aww, he's an adorable character, hehe!
i dont know, i got such a LONG LIST that i'dhave actually a hard time saying why he should be called like it...
well let's begin
Jambo: because it's a fun name and sounds like jumbo, coz it's big. XD
Racy, because by judging his feet size and body shape, he must run fast! XD
Boris, because! he reminds me of a friend of mine in rl, based in his anatomy n.n
Evan, same reason, and he was so much fun when i was a child, playing with him.
Urio, this is a name i invented, in the neocrian [also invented by me] Urio Means Spirit, can be given to both male or females [or herms and shemales ;p] and is a person who loves being active.
Lon, a simple name, fun, and sometimes remind me of loner, away from the drama of the world. but by this same reason i tink it wouldn't fit him because he only wants to get away from drama ^^;;
i got a lot more names, but i tink that's enough... for now :U

I think the name Tumelo would be nice for him. It's an ambiguous name from South Africa(he looks more like an African elephant than an Indian one) that means faith or belief. I think it fits his personality mostly because of his carefree nature. I also want to call him Tume for short :)
"Guaran" it haves face of have that name X3 why? simple apart of be an exotic species it fills well with the name. Basiclly Guaran comes from Guarana an exotic fruit from south america, actually this kind of fruithaves a strange flavor between acid and sweet...mostly of the things who cointains this fruit it haves a kind of touch of active or espontaneos who actually fits weel with part of the mood of the character :3
Looking at him for a good period of time...
I can imagine myself calling him Xander. It's got enough flair to match his exuberance, plus it sounds "different" enough to match his... well, "different" kind of look. Maybe it could short for Alexander (which I noticed after that someone mentioned). But "Xander" is what I'd call him.

I've always liked the name "Apollo," and I think this character somewhat follows the Greek god.
In Mythology, Apollo was known for having male and female lovers, since you specified that he isn't necessarily attracted to just one gender - there's one trait that's shared between the two. Apollo was also known for medicine and healing, which would explain this character's need to make people feel better.
Apollo is also centered around music, poetry, and the arts - all forms of entertainment in that era and now, so, therefore, an explanation for this character's need to have fun.

He definitely comes across as something British and with a W for me.
Sooo
Winston
He'll probably grow up to be a strong elephant someday. So I thought of Winston Churchill He can't avoid that, he's an elephant. Also the Win part of the name kinda sounds like Wind for the Wind his big ears flap around in.

Accel.
Because he sounds like he'd be constantly in motion and keep going. Excited, moving, accel, as in accelerate, for speed. I like that.
Or just turn it into Excel. Since go-getter types usually do better than most since they're in better moods. He excels at everything, especially at being happy.
Or Joy or Euphor(ia), since he's always happy. It's a fitting name for someone who brings happiness to happy people /o/

Tantor because it just pops out at me, the name feels bouncy, happy and brightly colored like this guy, also, because of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tantor
Oy, Ok, here's my suggestion: Paris
Reasons:
Location > Paris, France. Capital of frivolous parties, shallow rich people, and hedonism. Fashion, luxury, fine dinning. The world is your oyster. No sad faces when you're a tourist in Paris, damnit.
Mythological> Paris the prince. Loved beauty, caused tons of trouble because of his search for a good time without regard for anything else.
Pop culture> Paris Hilton. Need I say more? Another person that's only out for a good time. Though perhaps not exactly someone you're really like to be named after, you can't deny the char comes across as rather shallow. And who's more shallow than Paris? Plus, she seems to go both ways.
I think Paris as a name can get across the feel of this character quiet efectively and would work very well as a name.

Callan. Aside from that he looks like a Callan to me, the name feels high-spirited and light and seems to be the kind of guy you could just get along with no matter what. If you want a last name.... McMichael. Callan McMichael. Why I chose that last name I'm not sure. I suppose it's because he seems Scottish to me and I don't know why. And the name just flows.
I'm kind of partial to both "Ozzy" and "Orville", but I'm leaning towards Orville the most.
Ozzy, I believe, is derived from Oscar and Osborne (Ok I like Ozzy Osborne, so sue me. :B), Oscar (Old English), was the "Spear of the Gods" from what I researched.
Orville is "Old French", meaning "Gold Town".
Whether it literally means a town full of gold, I'm not exactly sure. Maybe a deeper meaning of pristine, free of tarnish. Your character is high spirited, and prefer to remain distand and aloof from the troubles of others; free of drama. Shitty metaphor, I know, but I think Orville kind of clicks for this kind of character.

Keegan, mainly because it has its roots in an Irish Gaelic name meaning "little fire" or "little bright-eyed one," which I think fits his personality. Plus, as a minor note, Keegan is a variant of the name Egan, which is where I started naming him as an anagram of the first four letters of Ganesha, the elephant-headed god.
In my opinion, the more real the character is, the better they are all around. Certainly better than some typical cookie-cutout personalities that tends to be so prevalent nowadays. It sounds like you have more plans for him in the future if you're giving him such detail personality-wise.
Darius would be a fine name for him, just because it means "Maintains Possessions Well" this could be a play on the species because a "trunk" is not only part of an elephant, but what we use to store items. Also elephants have been known to have very good memories and they are not likely to forget something. Also with his personality of being that of a free spirit and sort of a motivated type Darius is also a name that is Greek and Persian in origin and as it is known Greeks were very intelligent and the Persians seemed to have conquered and taken over many lands emphasizing his "go-getter"attitude. Also Persians used elephants in war making this name a pretty good fit. As for his last name if you are going to give him one I would suggest Barrus which is Latin for "Elephant" so his full name would be "Darius Barrus" just tossing that out there for ya. Good luck in selecting a name!
Karta. It means "active" in Hindi, which seems to suit this guy perfectly; he's cheerful and a go-getter, yet you also pointed out that he steers away from mood-ruiners and thus kill his momentum. As such, he always wants to be cheerful and active, hence the name. On top of that, I personally don't think it would sound out-of-place on him because the word sounds cheery.
The name actually is the name of a species of bird, meaning "large brilliant tail feather" And I dunno about you guys but when I see colorful feathers I see life and being full of energy, the freedom of taking flight. Though there's no feathers in sight on this guy, the name seemed suitable for an energetic character.
Here is my shot at a name.
For some reason when I saw him I thought of the scene in Dumbo, commonly known on the internet as the 'big pink elephant moment' and referred to as such as a WTF moment popping up.
So given this random thought I tried to incorporate that into a name fitting his looks and listed personality.
I came up with... Bubeelmo
'Buff beige elephant montage'
Bubeelmo is somewhat gender neutral, as it sounds like a more femanant name, and leaves the shortened version open to Bub' if more masculine.
Yea for random brain firings!

Jack. I think of the song Jumpin' Jack Flash, It seems to imply a person with a ton of energy, plus with a high-energetic, I imagine him being the Jack in the old "jack jumped over the candlestick" and in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwmuiq4oMYc
Isaac ~ loose translation means laughter, would seem to fit since he is always looking for fun
Keegan ~ loose translation "firey one" since you say he's all high spirited and fun loving, and check out that high kick!
Cameron ~ loose translation "crooked nose" <-- would be funny and cute for an elephant
Good luck picking a name out of the millions of entries. He came out incredibly adorable for an elephant anthro. I think they can be very tricky to pull off just right.

Geezus, I'm not gonna win this one with the amount of comments, but I'll try anyway.
I'd go for a go-getter name, like Adrian, though considering he seems a more fun-style character I'd give him one of those names like Cookie Doe and Sour Doe had.
Something like Ellie Faint or Asia Spades.

Oh godd this character is too cute, I love elephantssss there are not enough of them. Also his colors are rad.
I'm thinking maybe Haani. It's a traditional Indian name (which I figured made sense) meaning happy, delighted and content. I figure that he must be content with himself if he's a go getter, and also if he doesn't deal with drama. He doesn't need that stuff to satisfy himself, and he's happy with what he's happy with (like his orientation).
I'm also really fond of Faarooq (it means 'one who distinguishes truth from falsehood'), but I'm not sure if the pronunciation of that name really fits him. But if you like it than there's another suggestion!

Julian Sinclaire
Leads in with a feeling of being proper, but lets the downright easy going attitude make its debut. It takes the small town feel and rolls it together with a city high-rise tease. If your going to live once, live it long, live it hard and live every moment of it.
Julian sinclaire. I swear.

Priyanvad = "sweet talking person" from a Hindu baby names site.
I like the idea of going with a Hindu name, since it would reflect a greater cultural background, and also be a break from the typical western names. Also, the name seems to suit his personality. A sweet talker, full of high spirits, that people like.

teek's suggestion of Cassius ^^

Even though it is more of a female name, "Clytie" could be a really good one!
In mythology, I think it was a chick who was in love with the sun god. She was turned into a sun flower, which I hear are always supposed to face the sun. Anyways, in this particular case of naming your elephant character, the sun seems like a nice metaphor for all the 'bright' and cheery times in life that your elephant character seems to love and since sunflowers always want to face the sun and your character likes to ignore sad people, it seems even more appropriate As for it being a femenine name, your character looks pretty femenine himself, so maybe that isn't so bad a name choice. :) Also, his hair is yellow, which reminds me even more of sunflowers! XD
'Andy' could also be a good name because it rhymes with dandy (that is always good), which furthermore reminds me of dandilions which are yellow like his hair too....
...and the more I look at him, the green from his inner ears look like leaves from his flower head! So the sunflower "Clytie" and dandilion "Andy" still makes even more sense!
If I think of any more, Ill comment this comment... <:]

I would personaly go with Icarus
From the Greek (I think) story I get the impression that Icarus was young, filled with energy and impatient. We all know that he recklessly rushed too close to the sun in the myth, burning up his wax wings and plumeting to the ground.
Seems to me that if you look at it differently the wings could also have the meening of avoiding his problems/responsibilities and how later they came back to smack him. Something that, from the description, could happen to this colorful guy.
The positive side of the name is it sounds quite lively, it is not a name that could be easily associated with someone that is inactive. Icarus feels like a name that you summerise with: freedom, light, exuberance, joy, recklessness.
Anyway that's what I see in your Character.
Must admit he is quite interesting to look at, hope to see more of him

I was thinking Dajh or Dhej (pronounced Dodge the way I'm thinkin'), and you may find me racist, but I feel that Elephants are Africa or Indian and would have a matching name of their very proud lineage. It's short, unlike he'd be, but not intimidating which seems to match his personally.
Ag. Shortened from Agrippa. Because something about him makes me think Italian or Sicilian in his background, but of course he's not going to go clubbing with a handle like Agrippa. Plus with the 'grip' part of it, it echo's his trunk (and possible uses thereof). The fencing master's name also can bring to mind flickering from one thing to another quickly, which would be like his interest flickering from one high point to another. And it's cute.
Bartre. It's a name that has a bark to it, and while most people here suggest fruity sweet names, I see this guy and think of something that has more of a kick to it, like sour Shock Tarts or something like that. Bartre is one of those names you don't really see floating around so it's really unique. I must admit, I myself only seen this name twice, once was someone I once knew on a message board years ago, and the other was in Fire Emblem 7, who starts as a Fighter unit. But hey, it's short, simple, and doesn't need some sort of special/philosophical meaning ^^
