nah i use plain old ableton live but i'm glad that comes across! was deliberately going for that kind of sound, trying to emulate old dance music (from 1991 in this case) and all.

Download Dexed. It's a free DX7 emulator that's very accurate AND it can load the original factory ROMs that can be found super easily online!

Well there's VirtualCZ. It's not totally accurate since Casio never released technical specifications for the CZ line. FM Sounds by exploiting the ring-mod are broken, for example, but for more straight forward "subtractive" sounds it should work a treat!

Arturia CZ V looks amazing, it allows custom waveforms which is uncommon for phase distortion vsts.

CZ-V is like the rest of Arturia's synth collection. It's "inspired by", rather than an emulation. If you want PD synthesis then it's one of the best plug-ins to get, but if you want a Casio CZ then it's lacking. Again they've missed off a big part of the CZ's sound: the Ring Mod. RM on the CZ behaves like FM rather than actual Ring Mod, which is why I can clone so many DX sounds into my CZ1.

Also, wow! Ten years feels like yesterday! Haha. I've recently started rebuilding my little bedroom studio -- sold it off years ago when I list my job but music is now back on the table.
