A day late because I am forgetful, pfff.
Mari Lwyd (pronounced "Mary Loid") is a Welsh holiday tradition that puts our American ones to shame. A horse skull on a stick with a cape and festive decorations, the Mari Lwyd, goes door to door and requests to be let in by singing a song or rhyme. If you open the door, you have to reply in song or rhyme too. An EPIC UNDEAD HORSE RAP BATTLE follows, and if you win, Mari will leave, but if you lose, Mari and all the people accompanying her get to come in your house for food and drink.
Morbid? Maybe. So much cooler than eating candy out of a sock? ABSOLUTELY.
