Made this for my little happy conbook, cuz I do that every year, and wasn't originally intending to post here, but I was convinced otherwise
Background's not quite what it was last year, and no bio this time (it's pretty much the same, though) but at least the anatomy looks better
GO FATTY GO!

hmm,is it me or did you put on a little weight Strype? Prehaps you should should consider going technorganic, you'll never have to worry about an expanding waistline. lol. All kidding aside I do have to say your work and character has evolved quite a bit since i first ran across it. =)
Hmmm...
Instead of skates, can have wheels or mattracks.( http://www.mattracks.com/html/latest_news.htm )

I've always admired your attention to detail. Not just in an artistic sense, either. While it is impressive that you manage to outline, shade, color and shade many intricate details on a subject's face or apparel, your attention to character profile is also very astounding, particularly with these reference sheets.
For instance, the eagle pendant, the cuffs, the bionic legs, while expertly rendered artistically, reflect a well-rounded nature to the character. In addition to aesthetic positives concerning these items, Strype is made more substantial by these subtle accessories. Perhaps the pendant reminds him of something/someone special. Mayhaps the cuffs represent the character's feelings towards authority. Are the legs a reminder of personal sacrifice or serious pangs the character has suffered through?
Of course, all this could be pretense. Perhaps your reasons for accessorizing Strype so is to make him look rather dashing and nothing more. Regardless, I've always enjoyed not only the visual aspects of your art but marveled at how lifelike and whole they seem to be.
You lately stated that your artwork lacked "heart". It's true, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But let it be said that your work most certainly possesses heart and soul. It might be a broken heart, yes. But as I see it, it is well on its way to repair.

Honestly, I try to make the features have some meaning. The Pendant is a bit of a double, the eagle representing freedom and flight (he spends a lot of time jetpacking around) and he also takes it to represent a pheonix, as a reminder that he'll always rise from the ashes no matter what happens.
The cuffs were initially aesthetic, cuz I thought they'd look cool, but now he sees them as a representation of self-control. His impulsiveness has gotten him into some deep shit before, so this is a reminder of him to remain restrained and patient.
And the legs, well, I put them on there as I thought they'd be cool and I hate my own feet for their various problems. I'd totally replace my own with better robotic ones if I had a chance. To the character, though, they represent a lesson, when a lapse in his awareness caused him to be in the sights of a hovertank when it fired, and the railgun took off his feet as he leapt for cover. Initially, to him it was a penance for screwing up, but now he considers them a boon, as he can quickly swap them out, and constantly improve them or use different types for different situations. This has also given him a bit of philosophical insight, as now he often views setbacks and tragedy as opportunity
So yeah...

Exactly! I know I used big words to make myself sound smart, but this is the kind of thing I'm talking about. This makes your characters more three-dimensional. Maybe not in a strictly artistic sense.
Each of those things tells a story about the character and are symbols, if not allegories, of his attributes. Like you said, the phoenix rising from the ashes represents his persistent and determined nature (at least, that's the conclusion I hope you were trying to convey). In reality, its this trait that makes you one of my favorite artists. Although drawing things to "look cool" is nice, you seem to take it one or two steps further by making characters both physically and emotionally unique.
Stay golden, Strype. I am sure I speak for many when I say we await your future works with great anticipation.

Whoa. I didn't know Strype had a habrid machine/organic brain.
Reading more on this, it looks like the idea I had for my good friend and brother

I'll send ya more info in a note, if you'd like.

Wow, cool melee weapon, looks dangerous. Could be more usefull than a chainsaw.
But you have a great mind on all this military and science-fiction weapons'n'stuff.
And it also looks like it may weigh alot.
I am into military work and stuff like this myself, I never upload anything because my drawings and designs are way to big to be uploaded (too big in MB's).
But I am vary into Tanks at the most, I could suggest for you a drawing, not me, or not for me. If you are into Sci-Fi then the tank called the MARV (google C&C MARV) is really good for this, I think from after seeing all this work, its a thing that you may like.
Oh, your hammer looks very dangerous.. I do not want to get in the way of that..
But great work you got, I look forward to seeing more.
Good day.

I think what I love most about your character, besides the f*cking awesome art, is how realistic it is. Im not just talking about the detail. Your character truly represents *YOU* Its not an overly muscled freakish exaggeration of your physical proportions(nevermind the cyber-legs). yer proud of who you are, and regularly display it in your art. So yeah, as you so eloquently put it, "go fatty go!"
btw, some time, ive been thinking of commissioning a character sheet from ya. and its gonna be a doosy. the two hardest parts of my character are his weapon of choice and the energy aura that surrounds him. Saying that he is a 5 species hybrid should give an idea of how difficult of a project it would be. Hopefully ill get around to reading the journals so Ill know when you open commissions.

Just to throw in my two cents: he's not fat...he's beefy! Sure, there's a bit of padding in the middle (which many, many big men have), but that, my friends, is energy storage for a lot of useful muscle. Those 2% body fat ultra-cut guys start to starve waaaay too fast.
Or, as my boss would put it: sturdy, but sexy!

Ya i thought you could better than a space marine in at least one thing,
yust look at this:
Species: Homo Sapiens Sapiens (+add. organs)
Height: 8ft.
weight: at least 700lbs
Argumentations:
-Secondary Heart
-Ossmodula (bones absorb ceramic based elements, to streinghten the bone)
-Biscopea (super muscle gowth)
-Haemastamen (more effective blood)
-Larraman Organ (wounds heal and form scars almost immedieatly)
-Catalepsean Node (2 weeks withought sleep, and still sharp and battle ready)
-Preomnor (eating unnatural substances)
-Omophagea (gather data about what youre eating)
-Multi-lung (+1 lung wing)
-Occulobe (better eyesight, see in dark)
-Lyman's Ear (better hearing, explosions do not cause ringing in ears anymore)
-Sus-an Membrane (suspended animation)
-Melanochrome, or Melanochromic Organ(supper tanning whe exposed to sun)
-Oolitic Kidney (blood filtering)
-Neuroglottis (lick suff to see if its poison)
-Mucranoid (sweat protects from temperature, and short time vaccum)
-Betchers Gland (spit corrosive material)
-Black Carapace (allows body to armour, connection and control)

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy........................
*Foxy goes to cry in the corner*
The hottest ones are straight, I swear. And it ain't just because you're not available, because I've had major crush-hot-obsessions with guys for weeks before finding out they're straight....
*Pouts*
You're still hot..... and so is your art.
