Naarai was born in an extremely abusive family, as he had to endure constant berating and beating from his parents. The family house smelled like blueberries, as that's his mother's favourite candles that burned 24/7. His father struck him with a scythe as a child deeply cutting his back thigh, which required so many stitches and staples hence the unsightly scar. He suffered through a tough childhood, and was home schooled so no other adults could see what had happened to him. After he turned a teenager, he ran away from home, never to return. He could not take it anymore from his parents. He stumbled upon the husky clan, starving and weak, he was taken in by them, as they raised him to be a proficient warrior. Even though he was not an husky, but his adoptive father, the leader of the husky clan, felt that he would be a good future leader. He believed in playing fair, no matter the circumstances, and this is exactly why he got those scars on his shoulder blades from Ratchet's evil brother Techtar. After witnessing this heinous act, the husky tribe decided to make some changes that they would not allow other species except canine species to interact with the huskies. This made the ever-growing rift between thels and other species much worse.

After Naarai became an adult, he developed great expertise with potion making, and was able to treat other animals with the medicine. He is also the only known animal that has the skill to produce the ointment that Black Ice needs, but could not produce it in a large enough quantity for it to be an effective treatment. He can be a great ally, or the worst enemy if you don't treat his clan nicely. After the death of his adoptive father, he became the husky clan leader and their witch doctor. He is not the one to hold grudges (except if the other side are either his real parents or Techtar), so he is also a skilled negotiator and peacemaker. He has a strong war cry so that's where his name Naarai comes in, once you hear it, you don't want to be on the opponent side, otherwise you'll feel it once he's right in front of you.

He developed a strong relationship with Ratchet's father after his adoptive father had always said to be close with him. All other thels were fair game for the huskies if they ever encountered one. In a twist of fate, Ratchet finally met Naarai after he was... to be continued...
