Looking back at it now...I wonder if Pirates was a test to see how far Kingdom Hearts could go with realistic live-action work...for future KH games...I mean...given how they say Sora looked different in the secret movie.

I don't know, but I always found it an interesting move to have a non-animated film to go into Kingdom Hearts. But given what I've seen of Pirates...it's a success. Mostly...

Yeah! The Pirates world is visually stunning! The characters look awesome, the world's full of that Caribbean color palette gorgeousness...oooh...know you don't like deep water Az, but going underwater, fighting or not, is so awesome!

It's alright...I think it was cool too. I didn't know the extent they would go...but I think it was pretty fair. A portion of the world includes Port Royal...which is actually not bad size-wise. But there's also several islands that you can explore as well, each as cool looking as the next. Honestly, going to these places along the Black Pearl, fights and all, reminded me of Assassin's Creed Black Flag and later entries with boats...and honestly, that was fun too.

Yeah! The places were so cool to explore! And that's an appeal of the pirate background! Exploring islands, which you can fast travel too when getting to think which is nice, looking for treasure! Or in this case, some strange white crabs to improve your ship.

Right...you get the Pearl AFTER getting all of them...the initial ship is your own, Leviathan if I recall...good name. But you can switch between them at your leisure after leveling up your ship to max. But yeah...if I recall, it was up to you how far you progress improving your ship for the battle against Davey Jones. Weirdly, that IS actually true. You fight the Flying Dutchman, his ship, the Kraken too if I recall...and Davey Jones himself. Yes, you actually fight the Disney antagonist in this one.

Nice fight...loved the movie too, pretty epic end fighting in a whirlpool heheh.

As awesome as Pirates was, it suffers from a big flaw. See, the first one in KH2 drew from the first movie...this one, draws from the THIRD. So, there's already a bit of a disconnect as the second wasn't used in any of the side games either. But not only that, the explanation on the plot is pretty holey too. For instance, Beckett, who's kind of the real antagonist, using Jones by way of his little box, but you NEVER get to know who the guy is. Sure you can make guesses, but he comes out of nowhere for newcomers. And given no links from the second movie, you don't know the details of Jones, the Kraken, why things are the way they are....

Yeeeahh...to enjoy it best, you should watch the films to know.

Yeah, otherwise you won't be invested or a little lost at the least. So yeah, watch the films to get a better understanding and you'll be good. That said, Pirates is a delightful world...as long as you don't think too hard about a Jack Sparrow made out of white crabs for some reason and other strange things heh.

Dunno, they skipped 2...though they do have Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales I guess. Then again, unsure if the next game entry will even have Disney stuff if I recall where Sora ends up...

By the way...was this the first time Disney showed somebody actually croaking?

Oh...actually...yeah that's right...Johns...Beckett...Will....wow, yeah, there were SO many offings in this world wo-how-ow....jeez, I forgot about that.
