Here's a little post-birthday smellogram for
PaperPlane, who draws rad stuff, up to and including German Shepherd dudes. It was fun trying to figure out how fisheye lens distortion works!
Also, as a big-nose-, big-ear-enabled person, a hearty thanks goes out to GSDs everywhere for reminding the world that these are adorable traits to have.

it it was me id make the background black and blur it into the image so it looks more realistic :3

Did you draw the perspective from the get go, or did you filter it at the end? Either way, very awesome!
Plus, the brush strokes/details would get stretched funny and you'd probably have to repaint a bunch of it anyway...
The photo in the back was just stretched, though, obviously <3 I used Free Transform > Distort rather than using a filter, though, for what that's worth.
I guess that's an idea for the future!
A few minutes of surfing, and I had three or four nice photos to figure him out from ^_^

I love the dynamicness of this thing <3 HOW DID YOU FISHLENSTHIS
And I just looked up a bunch of photos of dogs taken with a fisheye lens and cobbled something together for the most part <3 His nose should actually be pointing down toward the center line, but I liked it better bigger, so to hell with optics, etc. The roses, I took some reference of a rose bouquet and applied the Spherize filter to it a couple of times before painting from it. The background is a photo I took that I bent into a spherical projection using Free Transform > Distort.
It was fun ^_^

Aside from the fur, all the detailed bits you mention are basically cobbled together frankendog-style from a whole bunch of reference <3
Reece just had a baby, and I went over the other night and was going to bring flowers and then thought better and just gave them a card with cash in it. Hard times in the country, ya'll... I wish I could afford to be frivolous now and again. I still AM, I just can't afford it.
And congrats to your friend! I suppose if there's any special occasion where frivolity isn't called for, it's having a kid. Adult responsibility, etc >_<

Incredible use of perspective here, man I love that distortion look.
And if you're having trouble freehanding lines with the tablet, just use the line tool! Nice, straight lines every time <3
