Refsheet for Závrí. Závrí is a Ru of the Zha'iză flock and current Foremost of Ru, elected head of Ru's governing council, the Highest Flock.
All members of the Ru government dip the tips of their wings in white paint so that they are more readily identifiable by their constituents. Members of the Highest Flock have a band of blue dye in addition to this. White represents the light of the moon, an extensive metaphor in Ru culture: The moon guides Ru through darkness, and symbolizes wisdom as well as truth and consensus, as the phase of the moon is the same for each of Ru's many islands. Blue represents the sea, whose fish feed the Ru; thus, when used as a rank marking, it symbolizes the Highest Flock's responsibility for the wellbeing of all Ru.
Závrí is leucistic. Some of his feathers are white, while others are pink instead of the deep red typical of most Ru. His name, Yaru for "cloud-feather", reflects his unusual appearance. When he was younger, Závrí was frequently mistaken for a Zha'iză representative on account of his white flight feathers.
When asked whether he got into politics just so people would stop asking him whether he worked for the government, he answered: "That wasn't the only reason."
