Yes, I'm also a costumer (hey, I can carry off spandex without people cringing, so why not?), though I don't often show off the photos of myself. This was taken almost two years ago now, by my good friend Ron at a local convention, and it still remains the best of my costumed photo collection. I have a fox mask now that does add a whole other dimention to this costume, but there's still something about the makeup I really like. Consider this an interrim image while I finish up the 2500 pageview pic. ^_^ "Model" in the photo is myself. Image itself remains R.J. 2004.

Yep, they're ballet slippers. I've found they're one of the best types of footwear for convention costuming. They're comfortable, fairly unobtrusive, and the soles are usually sturdy enough to handle concrete/carpet/anything else you're likely to encounter in a hotel.
hmm, i think it'd still look good. about the only way to truely get the facial expressions to go through, would either be with small servo's manipulating the mask, which would entail a lot of other equipment be hidden somewhere, or a holywood style latex mask, designed to meld to your face and transmit the expressions through it
https://www.Lyonshel.com great masks they are comfy and they work some what with your facial expressions and some people look good in them, but others ummmm not so much, i think its all in your face shape. and your one of the better looking furs i have seen (not to sound vain) but some people should know what they can and cannot dress up as, the fat guy with the beard at the anime con dressing up like salior moon cause its funny is funny.... the fat guy with a beard dressing up like salior moon cause he thinks he is sexy... is wrong just for exsample.
*nodnod* Yeah, a friend of mine has the lyonshel cougar mask, and man it looks neat when he's got it on. I've not been by their site in quite some time. The last time I went there, they had a lot of cats, but almost nothing in the way of foxes. That may have changed, so I really ought to go look again. And oy, I'm totally with you. Sailor Bacon and the like ought to be smacked over the head with a clue-by-four. Spandex is a privilage, NOT a right.
No, I haven't made it to any of the west coast furry cons yet. This past year I made it to Technicon, Anthrocon, IfestWest, Invisifest, Rising Star, and MFF... As staff in some capacity at the first three. This year (2006) the plans are for Stellarcon, Technicon, Anthrocon, IfestWest, Invisifest, Rising Star, and possibly MFF again.
The spandex suit cost me about $45, the wig was $20. I spent about $10 on the makeup (but it's lasted me three years). Bought the fur for the tail and ears for about $10 on sale (got two tails and god knows how many ears sets out of it, sewed them all myself). So yeah, the whole ensemble I'm wearing there cost around $100 total for materials. I'm breaking the Cardinal Rule of Spandex in that photo because I'm *gasp* wearing undergarments, but the material's just not thick enough to wear in public on its own.
I know it's "shallow" of me to say this, but I love it when I encounter folks who disprove the whole "all anthro artists are old, obese slobs who look like the opposite of their characters" stereotype.
It's easy to be cynical about Net art stuff, and I know that a lot of artists in all genres just so happen to have body issues...but still, as someone who stays in decent shape myself, I really get tired of the stereotypes. You are lookin good and could hold your own in the company of your creations. Not a bad thing at all. ^_^

*chuckles* Thanks ^_^ I've always enjoyed the fact that I can costume as my character without looking like some gross overweight slob with delusions. It's fun to break the stereotype. It's also why I laughed my head off when, some years ago, some Portal of Evil goon declared me a "300 lb Jedi Skunk woman" after poking around my ancient and now defunct geocities site. Try 125 lbs on a heavy day, and the species is vixen, precious, not skunk. The Jedi thing... Eh, I'm a fan. So what? ^_^
I would like to take this time to state my appreciation of your pic. It's right up my alley:). I too like to don something of the sort, and am currently working on fursuit as such. I could probably post pics of what I have now....but that would mean I would have to build up at least some kind of nerve, and then get a decent pic, or at least someone to hold the camera..... Anyways, very nice:) I always like to see more furs in spandex. It makes me happy.
Yay for being the first comment on a picture in over a year! *ahem*
I realize something about this picture, it's over a year old! I saw you at MFF and you had the mask on and were in a haremgirl outfit and it was so great. You should get another picture of this, one with you in the haremgirl outfit =3 This one, as pretty as it is, just doesn't do you justice! And I mean that in a high-compliment way.
