For years, I’ve been itching to do just a tiny bit of animation for Dreamkeepers, and now here it is!
It’s traditionally animated - no Flash or computerized tweening. Although probably easier to animate with a newer program, I’ve always, and continue to find, genuine traditional cartooning much more appealing. Though Flash is getting better and better at simulating a traditional feel, there’s still nothing like the real thing in my mind.
We’re not really equipped for large animation projects, of course - but a flashlight and a glass coffee table can get you quite a ways for smaller endeavors like this one.
This clip was created for the new intro page on the DK site - http://www.dreamkeeperscomic.com/Intro.htm The old intro page was rather lackluster, so in preparation for some marketing schemes, we’ve spruced it up- pretty pictures, animating power users, the whole nine yards. If you’ve got a moment, check it out and let us know what you think!

Yeeesh, very nicely done there. I'm partly at a loss for words, your ambition with regards to dreamkeepers is quite substantial! I never expected animation for your website as, well quite frankly, I hardly see animation on other graphic novel/webcomic websites. Thumbs up and I am trying to save up for Volume 3! Oh... and please forgive my... abuse of my physical vol 1 and 2 covers XD. I'm sorry, I am quite rough on my bag.
Thank you! The actual character B&W animation took some off - and - on work over 2-3 days. It was mostly done in between work shifts and Volume 3 pages, so probably it took like no more than 9 hours worth of real, focused work. The coloring and effects animation took another 3-4 days of off and on work. So overall, the job spanned a week, but probalby only comprised 2-3 days's worth of solid work.
Feel...
...The POWAH.
This just looks too badass. I love the effect on Lilith's Power -- Her hair, awesome cat ears and clothes flapping are dramatic and a bit sexy. Bast looks much the same, and I'm sure if I was a girl, I'd feel the same about his appeal...But I'm not, so I'll just say he looks hot in a different way.
...
HAAAH. He has a Heat Power.

I like Lilith a bit better. But both have awesome halos. All...Flashy and stuff.

You realize you've upped the awesome quotient of Dreamkeepers another notch, right? Just checking.
I can just imagine what an animated combat scene with the cast would look like, and I am loving the image in my head. As always, can't wait to see the next installment of the comic, and I am eager to how the story pans out. I have so many questions!
