Ori-verse profile:
Name: Ori
Species: Spirit (Hilldin life sequence base)
Gender: Male
Traits: Immaculate Born, Called, Heir (Sein's)
Relatives: Sein (biological parent), Naru (adoptive parent), Ku (adoptive sibling), Gumo (honorary uncle), Shriek (arch-enemy)
The first Heir of Sein, the seventh Spirit Tree of Nibel. One would be forgiven for thinking Ori to be unremarkable given his life sequence is based on a generic archetype, his mild disposition, and his short physical stature. Ori's life was meant to be typical of an early life Spirit Tree Heir but when he was separated from Sein by the Great Storm and was prematurely born, his birth heralded a chain of events that would reshape the current state of Onisil as a whole.
Ori's disappearance was the primary cause of the War of Nibel's Dusk, a bloody conflict that saw the destruction of Sein's old spirit tribe and the destruction of the old Nibelian gumon tribe at the hands of Decay. Ori was raised unaware of the war, isolated by his adoptive mother Naru. Ori was the last casualty of the war ; as Nibel entered a state of advanced Blindness and Decay stripped the land of its resources, Ori died from starvation.
What would have usually been a short and depressing tale took on a different turn as a dying, Lightless Sein used the last of her energy to resurrect him at the cost of her own life, a gesture that Ori returned by in turn resurrecting her disembodied heart-Light. In spite of all logic and despite being a child at the time, Ori then embarked on a journey, somehow managing to reconnect Sein to all of her wisps and thwarting Decay's attempt at using Mt.Horu to raze the Forest. While the idea of a small child accomplishing this may sound unbelievable, Sein has recorded into memory image format her experiences at his side and documented Ori's efforts.
Scarred by his brush with death and with his first clash with Decay, Ori would forever retain nightmares and many traumatic scars, though he also developed a desire to fight Decay and a hero syndrome. Reconnecting with his biological mother, Sein act as Ori's mentor and counselor as well, helping him cope with his nightmares.
Ori's most famous (mis)adventure is likely the Niwen incident. Due to a freak accident involving his adoptive sister Ku, Ori became involved with the events involving Seir the Immortal's Calling to all Called worldwide. Ori discovered his true nature and destiny as a Called and led the battle to take back Niwen's Light from Shriek and the Cult of Decay. The exact details of the incident are shrouded in mystery, not helped by contradicting retellings of the events by various witnesses. Still, it is known that Ori managed to defeat and seal Shriek deep within Niwen's underground while Seir perished. The circumstances of Seir's passing are still controversial to this day. While Shriek is alive, her return is deemed unlikely as the entirety of Zion's Throne (better known as Willow's End by local moki tribes) and Seir's Spirit Willow's corpse have collapsed on top of her, entombing her underground.
Following the events of Niwen, Ori has begun traveling all through the world, sparking his own set of wisps, and having new adventures all over. It is well-known that Ori intend to live as long as he can, hoping to become one of the Called whose ascension is triggered by old age instead of ritual. Despite a few close calls here and there, Ori is still active as of now and is a beloved hero in many Forests.
Zion's notes:
Hilldin descent class-4 Called spirit, male, late stage prematurely born. Amalgam mind ; original Ori mind deceased due to cardiac arrest and Light cohesion failure. Current mind is a fusion of Sein's Light, Ori's physical brain parameters, and partial personality and memory patterns absorbed from over 15 Ancestral Trees. Self-aware of unique Light mind pattern ; experience existential anxiety due to doubts as to whether he truly is "Ori" or not, given the events revolving his death and resurrection during Nibel's Blindness.
Like Sein, has mediocre Light potential but show high levels of adaptability, creativity, critical thinking, and advanced problem solving skills. High level of aggression and advanced combat skills backed by rigorous training but balanced by high sense of empathy and mercy. Flaws involve martyr tendencies and excessive forgiveness bordering on naivety.
Has high potential for creating positive timeline divergences ; took inspiration from my method of sealing the source of Decay to defeat Shriek permanently. Correctly led and motivated, may bring forth a new evolution of the Cycle and trigger a timeline in which Decay is defeated permanently.
However, subject's martyr syndrome is highly dangerous ; many timelines end with Seir successfully manipulating Ori's guilt to turn him into a new host to continue cheating death, ensuring Shriek's continued threat to Onisil.
