Chapter 20: Animal Forms Part 2

“Owwww…” Max moaned, rubbing his sore cheek. He was now topless, only wearing his shorts “Gee, Jenny, that smarts.” He muttered. “Says the guy who showed me his ****!” Jenny exclaimed, her cheeks still flushed.

Max continued to rub his left cheek where a large hand print was. “Well, you’ve got it coming, you know that.” David joked, “I still don’t get what’s wrong?” Max asked. “Oh gee,” Mikey answered, sarcastically. “the fact that you were naked right before us?!”

“What about it?” Max asked dumbly. “What about it?!” Jenny replied. “It’s extremely impolite and unsightly to be nude in public!” “Well, what’s the matter?” Max asked. “I do it all the time.” “You do what?!” his friends exclaimed in shock.

“When I was growing up in the jungle,” Max explained simply. “I, sometimes, go exploring naked. It’s more comfortable for me” Everyone just stared in shock at Max. “Dude, I don’t know whether to be amazed or disgusted.” Jake muttered.

“Anyway,” Mikey decided to change the subject. “we still don’t know what other forms Max has.” “Yeah, Max.” Jenny added. “How were you able to turn into a wolf?” “Well, all I did was just concentrate on the animal I want to transform.” Max answered simply. “That’s all I ever did.” “So, do you think you could transform into anything else?” Mikey asked.

“I think so.” Max said, standing up and taking his shirt from David. “I just need to know what I can transform into.” “But first,” Max walked off to a clump of bushes, much to his friends’ surprise. “Max, what are you doing?” Jake asked. “Hold on, guys.” Max called out.

The others could hear Max muttering to himself and heard some cloth ripping and tearing. What was Max doing? Finally, after Max came, they gasped at his appearance. Max was once again bare, but he now had a brown loincloth wrapped around his waist. “Woah, Max!” David whistled. “Nice jungle man look!”

“Thanks, David.” Max said. “I used to wear this back in Africa.” Jenny smiled shyly. “Well, at least it’s much better than being naked.” Max blushed slightly. “So, what should we test your powers on?” asked Mikey.

Max looked around and saw an old tree stump on the ground. This gave him an idea. “Guys,” he said. “let me try something.” Everyone watched as he approached the tree stump. As he did, his totem began to glow and tattoos appeared again. He started growing bigger and more muscular. As he dropped down on all fours, his arms and legs grew thicker and his hands and feet became hooves.

His skin became brown and shaggy fur drooped over his shoulders. A tail appeared on his bottom. His mouth grew into a snout with a big wet nose. Finally, two horns grew from the sides of his head. Max’s friends stared in wonder as a huge bison stood before them.

“Cool!” David and Mikey spoke in unison. Bison-Max looked at the stump in front of him. “Urrrrrhh…” he snorted, pawing the ground with his hoof. In minutes, he charged forward the stump, his huge head low and tail sticking up high.

“CCCCRRRREEEEAAAAKKKKKK!!!!!!!” the whole tree stump uprooted as soon as Bison-Max’s head collided with it, sending it up a few feet in the air, before landing with a loud “thump!”

“Whooo!” Jake cried, as Max turned back into human form. “That was some power you’ve got!” “Yeah, dude!” Mikey added. “That was amazing!” Max scratched his head in embarrassment. “Thanks, guys.”

Jenny smiled. “Well, what do you expect from the Wild Guardian?” she asked.


(10 mins later…)


The friends found them near a huge river, the water sparkled like a diamond under the sun. “Wow…” Jenny breathed. “It’s so peaceful here.” Max smiled. “I’m glad you like it, Jenny.”

“So, what are we doing here?” David asked. “Well, I like to test something.” Max answered. “What?” asked Mikey. Max walked over to a large rock on a riverbank. “What are you doing?” Jake asked, as Max started to climb the rock.

“This!” With that, Max dashed forward and to his friends’ shock, dived into the river with a loud “SPLASH!!!” “Max!” everyone shouted in unison. “Is he crazy?!” David exclaimed.

Suddenly, they saw a gold light from the clear depths of the river. This made them stood near the edge of the riverbank. “Hey, what’s that guys?” Mikey asked, pointing. The others stared at some bubbles appearing on the surface.

The bubbles started moving toward them. Everyone kneeled down and stared at the water. Out of nowhere, a small brown head suddenly popped out off the water. “Rrrriiicccchhhiiicccckkkkk!!!!!” “Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!” the friends screamed, tumbling back a little. It was an otter, making chittering sounds at them.

“Max?” Jenny asked in surprise. Otter-Max chittered again. “Rrrrriiiccchhiiiccckkk!!!!” before doing a backflip and diving back in the water. “Guys!” Jenny exclaimed. “It’s Max!”, much to the others’ amazement. “No way!” Mikey replied.

Everyone got their feet and looked at the river. They could see Otter-Max gliding through the depths like an acrobat.

In the water, Otter-Max could feel the water rushing through his sleek fur and his body. He felt his entire body bend and weave like the river currents. He swam to the river bottom, poking his brown snout in the dirt and scratching it with his webbed paws. At that moment, his whiskers caught some movement in the bottom. Instantly, he dove after it.

Up on the riverbank, Max’s friends waited anxiously for him come up. Suddenly, Otter-Max appeared, popping his head out of the water, with a crayfish in his jaws. “Max!” they all exclaimed in relief. Otter-Max swallowed the crayfish in one gulp and swam towards the riverbank.

Once out, Max switched back to his human form. “So, guys,” he asked, grinning. “what do you think?” To his surprise, he saw his friends were staring at him, Jenny in particular, her eyes were sparkling and her cheeks were pink.

It was then, Max realized that he was dripping wet all over, with his hair dripping on his sides. “Oh, sorry about that.” Max said, scratching his head. “Girl,” David joked. “are you blushing?” “Shut up, David!” Jenny exclaimed, her cheeks red while the others laughed and Max smiled.
