Chapter 21: Animal Forms Part 3
It was getting late, the sun was starting to sink below the horizon and the sky was colored in a mixture on orange and yellow. However, the friends found themselves at the edge of a cliff over-looking the whole forest. “Wow…” Mikey breathed. “This is one amazing view.” He muttered. “You can say that again.” Jake muttered as well.
“Max,” Jenny whispered. “it’s so beautiful.” Max smiled. “This forest is a few blocks from my home.” He explained. “Whenever I wanted to think,” he added. “I would always come here and look at the forest before me.” “Well, if you ask me,” David replied. “you’ve got a cool place to hang out.”
“So, what other forms do you have, exactly?” Mikey asked. Max stared out into the horizon. “I’m not sure, Mikey” he answered. David asked. “Why don’t you try turning into that humanoid eagle again?” “David, don’t rush him.” Jenny gently scolded. However, it gave Max an idea. “You know what, David?” he asked. “You’re on to something.”
“I am?” David asked, confused. Max nodded. “Guys, everyone, stand back.” Surprised, the others took three steps back, leaving Max at the edge of the cliff. “Urr, Max…” Jenny asked nervously. “You’re not thinking what I think you’re thinking?” Max turned and smiled at his friends.
With that, he rushed forward and leapt over the edge of the cliff. “MAX!!!” his friends shouted in horror. They all rushed forward and peered over the edge. “HOLY ****!!!” screamed Mikey. “IS HE CRAZY?!”
“Oh man!!” David said, horrified. “I was just kidding when I asked him to change into his eagle man form!” “Never mind about that!!” Jenny replied, she was the most shocked and horrified. “What are going to tell Hamato and Shen Li!!!”
“SSSSHRRREEEAAAAIIIIIKKKKK!!!!!!” a loud screech sounded, snapping them out of the despair. At that moment, something flew above them, causing them to tumble back. When they looked, they saw a magnificent bald eagle, its wings stretched outward and its feet displaying strong, cruel talons. Its white head seemed to shine and its beak gleamed in the setting sun.
They all gasped. “Max?!” they shouted in unison. Eagle-Max screeched in answer. He had transformed into a full eagle, rather than an eagle hybrid. Eagle-Max spread his wings and dove down.
“Wooo!!!” Mikey yelled in excitement. “You go, jungle man!!”
Eagle-Max soared across the sky, his arms or rather in this case, his wings stretched out far. He could feel the wind blow across his feathers. His vision was also incredible, he could see a rabbit eating some grass on a distant hill and a blue jay in its nest on a pine tree.
As Eagle-Max flew over a lake, he looked at the clear, blue water. He saw some salmon swimming near the surface thanks to his eagle eyes. He tucked his wings slightly and swooped down. As he neared the water, he raised his wings a little and spread his legs towards, showing his sharp talons.
With his talons, he snatched up one of the biggest salmon and pumped his wings, flying back up again. He flew back to the cliff where his friends were waiting for him.
As he flew towards his friends, he switched back to his human form and did a double-flip over his friends before landing on his feet behind them. “Max!” all his friends tackled him into a hug. “Hey guys!” Max happily said.
“You idiot!” Jenny exclaimed, slugging him on the shoulder. “You scared us half to death!” Max blushed in embarrassment. “Sorry, Jenny.”
“Well, we’re glad you’re safe.” Mikey said. Max nodded. “I also got something.” He said. He showed them the salmon he had caught. “No way.” David muttered, as the others stared in shock.
“So,” Max asked. “who’s hungry?”
