Chapter 24: Trouble with a Capital “H” !: Part 1
“Arrraaggghhh!!!!” Slick yelled. “How could this have happened?!” He was in his office late at night, looking through his documents. He was working on building more Securi-trons for Vincent for the unveiling but they were running out of any additional metal to synthesize the androids’ material.
“What’s worse, the next shipment of equipment and robotics parts from Tokyo is delayed for 5 weeks due to bad weather!” He screamed. “What am I going to tell Mr Hannibal and Vincent?!”
“You don’t have to tell me anything, Slick!” a loud voice commanded. Slick was scared s*itless when Mc.Hannibal outside, with the door open. “Mr Hannibal!” Slick shrieked as he hastily got to his feet and bowed as Mc Hannibal entered his office.
“You were supposed to be the best.” he growled. “I had to drag myself from a fan-crazy crowd in EuroMotor Expo and this is the news you give me?!” “Mr Hannibal, I can explain…” Slick stuttered.
“I don’t want excuses, Slick!” Hannibal roared. “I want results!” Slick cried. “Please, sir, there is only a delay, you will get the equipment you need, I promise!” Mc.Hannibal grunted “Fine!” he snarled. “I hope you keep that promise, for your sake!”
“Thank you, sir!” Slick praised, bowing in gratification. “I won’t let you down-grk!” he kneeled over in pain and clutched his stomach. Mc.Hannibal raised an eyebrow and heard Slick mutter. “That damn kid.”
He smirked in amusement. “What about a kid?” he asked. “What about him?!” Slick exclaimed, annoyed. “That kid made a fool out of me!” “Really?” Mc.Hannibal asked in surprise. “You were beaten by a kid?”. This made Slick’s face turn red, either in anger or embarrassment, I don’t know.
“No!” he tried to hide it, but it was no use. “Well, what did he do to you?” Mc.Hannibal asked. “What did he do?” “What the heck did he do?!” “Ohohoho!!” He removed his business vest and lifted up his shirt. “He did this!!”
Mc.Hannibal’s eyes widened in shock when he saw a nasty fist print on Slick’s stomach. He explained “Some boy did this to me at Misoto’s Tea Emporium!” “A boy?” Mc.Hannibal whispered. “Yeah!” He replied. “But, the worst of all, THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT IT’S PERMANENT!!!” Slick yelled, on the verge of losing it. “WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON THAT BOY, HE’S DEAD, D-E-A-D, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!!!”
Mc.Hannibal was amazed at first, then he grinned wickedly. Anyone who could have done this, must be the “Wild Guardian”. Finally, he could put an end to him and his dream of immortality and eternal power would be his!
“Slick, what was the name of that boy?” he asked. “Well,” Slick managed to calm down, “I overheard a girl with blue hair call him Max.” “Max, eh?” Mr.Hannibal asked, mostly to himself. “Slick, bring me five of the best Securi-trons that we have.” He said. Slick was confused. “Uh, yes sir, of course. But why?” he asked.
“Don’t worry, Slick.” Mc.Hannibal replied. “You will know soon enough.” “Very well, sir,” Mr Slick sighed. “if you say so.” Still muttering death threats to Max, Slick walked away.
As he left, Mc.Hannibal chuckled to himself. “Well, well, Max,” he thought. “Whoever you are, your days as Wild Guardian are finished before they’ve even begun.”
(Saturday morning…)
“AAARRRROOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!” howls sounded in the air. In the forest, a pack of wolves were on the trail of an old moose that was separated from its herd. One of the wolves leading the pack was larger than the rest, with a familiar scratch mark on its chest and white fur on its back.
If you guessed it right, it’s Max in his wolf form. Today, he decided to explore the woods and soon met with a pack of wolves. Thanks to his shapeshifting powers and jungle speak, he was able to fit in with the pack. Now, he was leading the pack on a hunt.
Wolf-Max stopped for a second, making the rest of the pack pause as well. Wolf-Max sniffed the ground, the scent was getting stronger. “Grrraaahhh!!!” he snarled, following the scent and moose tracks with the rest of the pack in tow.
Finally, the pack saw a large moose wandering around in the forest. “Rrrraaahah!!” Wolf-Max snarled at five wolves. The five wolves immediately dashed off. Wolf-Max gestured to the other wolves to follow him.
The moose was busy chewing some grass, when it sensed danger. Warily, it looked around and sniffed the air. It didn’t notice five wolves creeping up behind it. The wolves stayed downwind, so their scent didn’t alert the moose.
At that moment, when one of the wolves was close enough, the attack began! “Grrraahaah!!” a wolf sprang at the moose and bit it in its hindquarters. Startled, the moose shakes it off and runs, with the wolves chasing after it.
Thanks to its old age, it couldn’t run as fast as it used to in its prime. Seeking shelter, it decided to hide in the undergrowth. However, little did the moose know, that Wolf-Max and the rest of the pack were hiding.
As the moose entered the undergrowth, Wolf-Max sprang out of some bushes and bit on the moose’s shoulder. “Muurrraaahhhh!!!!!” the moose bellowed in pain.
All at once, the rest of the pack sprung, surrounding the moose and all rushing forward, biting on the legs, the throat and sides. The moose tried to fight back but soon it succumbed to its injuries and collapsed.
With the moose dead, Wolf-Max lifted up his head, his muzzle pointing towards the sky and howled. “Aaaarrrroooowww!!!” All the pack joined in. “AAAARRRROOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!”. Soon, they began their feast.
Wolf-Max tore through the flesh and tucked in to the delicious meat. Since he lived in the Congo jungle, he had no problem eating raw meat. He tore off a big chunk of flesh and walked a distance with other wolves, who were also eating.
As Wolf-Max ate, his pointed ears suddenly pricked up. He looked in the distance and listened carefully. He gobbled up the rest of his meal and switched back to his human form, much to the confusion of the wolf pack.
“Sorry, guys.” Max apologized. “My family are calling me.” With that, he transformed into an full eagle and flew off with a loud “Ssshhhrrriiieeeaaaarrrrkkkk!!!!”
(8 mins later…)
“How long has Max been gone?” Shen Li asked, worriedly. “It’s been over an hour and a half.” “Don’t worry, Shen.” Hamato assured. “Max’s a growing kid. He’ll be fine.”
“Well, I suppose you’re right.” Shen Li sighed as she poured some orange juice and handed a glass to Hamato. “I hope he’s alright.” “I’m sure he is.” Hamato replied, taking a gulp from his orange juice.
Little did they know, outside, Eagle-Max was flying up to the balcony. Seeing that the window was open, he swooped down and turned back to his human form. “Phew, that was close.” Before realizing, that he was only in his shorts that were torn.
“Well, at least, I’m near my room.” He muttered, rushing into the window to his room. “I better get changed.”
Downstairs, Shen Li looked up from her juice. “Did you hear something?” she asked. Hamato looked up “Heard what?” he replied. “Nothing.” She sighed, shaking her head.
“Morning, Obaa-chan, Jii-Chan!” Max called as he raced downstairs, wearing his green sweat-shirt and blue shorts. “Max, you’re home.” Shen Li exclaimed. “I was getting worried.”
“Don’t worry, Obaa-Chan.” Max said as he took some cookies from a jar. “I just went exploring in the forest, nearby.” Hamato chuckled. “Well, that’s our jungle boy, for ya.” He joked. “By the way, do you have any plans?”
“No.” Max replied. “Oh, good.” Hamato said. “I was thinking that we would head over to the zoo.” Max’s eyes widened with excitement. “Oh right, the zoo!!!” he exclaimed.
“If you like, we can invite your friends too.” Shen Li added, smiling. “Sure, that will be great!” Max said
Hamato chuckled. “You can tell your friends about it and we’ll meet at 11.15.” “Sure thing, Jii-chan.” Max replied. He was certain today would be great.
