Chapter 28: Trouble with a Capital “H” !: Part 4
When we last left Max and his friends, they have been on a visit to the Bronx Zoo. However, things went awry as the animals escaped from their enclosures and ran amuck all over the zoo. Thanks to Max, all the animals were rounded up and secured back in their enclosures.
Things got complicated when Max and his friends meet up with five strange figures who turned out to be the ones who sabotaged the enclosures and allowed the animals to escape. To make matters worse, one of the thugs demanded that Max should be eliminated.
Now, here we are, with Max and his friends, with the strangers, their leader pointing a pistol at the former. “Any last words, Max?” asked the stranger.
“Uhh, guys?” Jake asked. “What do we do now?” “I don’t know, guys.” Mikey replied. At that moment, the four figures stepped forward, causing everyone to become more tense. “Surrender to your fate, Max,” the figure spoke again. “or your friends will pay the price.”
“Oh man, guys!” David exclaimed in worry. “What do we do now?!” “Guys, it’s okay.” Max spoke up. “I’ll deal with them.” Everyone was horrified. “Max, are you crazy?!” Jenny asked. “Guys, I’m the one they want.” Max replied. “I don’t want anyone to get hurt because of me.”
“Max, there has to be another way.” Mikey said. “Don’t worry, guys.” Max assured. “Trust me.” He added with a smile. “Max…” Jenny whispered worriedly. Max walked forward towards the figures. “Here I am.” He stated.
“Good.” The figure stated. “Do you have any last requests before we dispose of you?” he asked. “Yes, I do.” Max replied. “Here it is.” Before the figure knew what happened, he was sent flying back with a punch to his gut. “To hell with you!!!!” Max yelled.
“Attack him!!!” the figure yelled, as he struggled to his feet. “Take him down!!!” The four other figures took out their pistols and fired, frightening all the lambs, chickens and goats at the Children’s Zoo. “Everyone, move!!” Max yelled. The others managed to move out of the way as they fired. “Get the boy!!” another figure yelled. Max effectively dodged every bullet and kicked another cloaked figure in the hip.
“Surrender or be destroyed!” a third figure exclaimed. Before he could fire, David kicked at him from behind. “I won’t let you!” he yelled, charging towards them. “So will I!” Jake added, grabbing another cloaked figure and threw him over his shoulder.
“Get Max!” the first figure shouted, charging towards him. “If the others get in the way, do not be gentle!” The other two figures rushed forward, only to be stopped by Jenny and Mikey. “I don’t think so, pal!” Jenny explained. The cloaked figure rushed forward, giving all sorts of punches and kicks at her, Jenny dodged them all.
“Sorry!” Jenny taunted. “Let me show you how it’s done!” At that moment, Jenny released her own fighting style at the figure. The figure matched each punch and kick with his own. Jenny was surprised, this stranger has excellent fighting style.
Mikey, was also engaging in another cloaked figure. “Man!” he exclaimed, fighting and dodging any attacks the figure pulled. “He’s got moves!” “But, I’ve got moves of my own!” With that, Mikey landed a swift punch to the figure’s face.
The figure crashed to the ground with a loud crash. At the same time, Jenny disarmed her attacker and sent him crashing to the ground with a kick to the neck. David and Jake took care of their opponents as well. “Well, that takes care of them!” Jenny spoke up.
“You will not get in the way of our mission!” the first figure called out. By now, he and Max were engaged in a fierce battle. Max, by now, had lost whatever patience he had left. “I had just about enough of you!!” he yelled. As he did, his totem glowed brightly. “Wha…what is this?” the stranger asked.
“THIS IS FOR HURTING INNOCENT PEOPLE AND USING NOBLE CREATURES AS YOUR TOOLS!!!!!” Max roared, before lunging at the figure. The stranger stood no chance as he was savagely attacked from each and every side.
“I won’t forgive you for hurting my friends!!!” With a mighty yell, more like a bestial roar, Max punched the stranger as hard as he could. The force was so great that it burst through the stranger with an “Boom!!” at his back.
Everyone was shocked, especially Max. Since when do humans explode? The figure stepped back by two steps and collapsed to the ground. As he did, his trench coat opened up and when the friends looked, they were even more astounded.
The stranger’s chest had a big hole inside to reveal bits of metal and mechanical parts dangling out. In fact, his entire chest was all made of metal. “He’s a robot?!” Mikey exclaimed.
“If that’s true,” David added. “then, that means…” He ran over to one of the fallen figures and removed his hat. To his shock, his entire head was just a metallic one. “He’s a robot too!!” he exclaimed.
“So that means,” Jenny gasped in horror. “they’re all robots!!!” “That’s right, Jenny.” The robot spoke, the last bit of power ebbing away. “We were supposed to destroy Max, our master depends on it.” “Master?” David asked. “What are you talking about?”
“This is not over, Max.” the robot replied. With that, the robot shut down and his electronic face died down. There was an uneasy silence next. “What the f*ck was that about?” Jake demanded.
“Yeah, who is their master and why would he want to kill you?” Jenny asked. Max turned to the fallen robot and studied it carefully. Suddenly, it noticed a piece of metal lying near it’s body. He picked it up and turned it around to see a strange symbol of a hand clutching a globe with a capital “H” “Guys, look at this.” He said, showing them the symbol.
When the others saw the symbol, they gasped. “That’s the symbol for Mc.Hannibal’s Corporations!” David exclaimed. “Hold on,” Max asked. “the company that Mr.Hannibal owns?” “Yeah, Max!” Jenny added.
“So, these robots’ master must be Hannibal.” Mikey said. “I don’t understand.” Max asked. “Why would Mr Hannibal want to kill me?” “I haven’t done anything to him.” Mikey’s expression darkened. “Well, Mr Hannibal doesn’t need an excuse to hurt someone.” He muttered.
“So, what are we going to do?” asked Jenny. “Hey, guys.” Jake spoke up. “We stopped his robots, so we won’t have to worry about them reporting to Hannibal.” “I guess so.” Max said. However, as he looked into at the shut-down robots lying all over the place, he had a terrible feeling deep in his stomach that this would bound to happen again.
(In Mc.Hannibal’s office…)
Mc.Hannibal sat in his office, watching a screen on his laptop. In it, was a video of Max and his friends fighting his Securi-trons. Although he saw how they defeated his robots, Mc.Hannibal paused the video when it got a clear image of Max.
“Well, well” he chuckled evilly. “So, this is the new Wild Guardian, a mere teenage boy.” “Well, Max, it seems your luck has just run out.”
