Chapter 30: The Devourer’s Plan
Somewhere in Mc.Hannibal Enterprises late at night, the latter and his secretary was heading across one of the hallways in his building. “Are you sure about this, sir?” Slick asked, nervously.
“Of course, I am Mr Slick.” Mc.Hannibal replied. “I wish to give him the news of our progress.” “Why can’t you call him on your crystal ball of yours?” Slick suggested, his brow sweating. “I can’t, Slick!” Mr Hannibal growled in annoyance. “He’s the one who calls me! I have to see him personally!”
“Can’t I just wait outside for you, sir?” Slick asked again. “No, you will not!” Mc.Hannibal exclaimed. “He wants to see the both of us, so man up for crying out loud!!” “Mommy…” Slick whimpered and followed him to the door with the “Authorized Personal Only” sign.
Mc.Hannibal unlocked the door to reveal a stairway leading into a dark room. Slick gulped nervously and hid behind his boss as they walked downstairs.
They reached a large room that was completely dark but at the center, was a large container glowing in an ominous red with smoke and pipes connected to it. “I’m here!!!” he called out.
At that moment, smoke rose and the container glowed brighter. “Eeep!!!” Slick squealed and cowered behind his boss. The smoked parted to revealed a large ghostly white face with pitch black eyes, with a mouth of fangs and red tattoos on the sides of his cheeks and forehead.
“Well, what’s the news you have brought for me?” the entity asked. Mc.Hannibal smiled. “My lord, my spies have found that Wild Guardian, you have been searching for.” He replied. “He has?” the entity repeated. “Who is he?”
Mc.Hannibal smirked and projected a hologram with a screen with a video playing the Bronx Zoo Incident. “My Securi-trons caused a great ruckus at the Bronx Zoo last week,” he explained. “and have found your Wild Guardian.”
The video then showed Max fighting one of his Securi-trons. “I had a video camera installed in one of my Securi-trons and we captured this.” Mc.Hannibal paused the video which to the entity’s surprise, saw Max surrounded by a golden aura and a strange glowing object around his neck.
“That’s him?” the entity asked. “Hehehehehhehe...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!!!” he laughed manically and so loud that the room seemed to tremble and poor Slick nearly shit himself, hiding behind his master. “So this is the new Wild Guardian, a mere boy?!” he roared in amusement.
“Yes,” Mc.Hannibal frowned. “but he and his friends helped to destroy my Securi-trons.” “Even so,” the entity continued, smirking evilly. “Tantu was a brave warrior, almost a man.” “This one is just a mere child!!” he added, chuckling evilly.
“So, what do you wish to do, now, my lord?” asked Mc.Hannibal. “Oh, don’t worry, Mr Hannibal.” The entity replied. “I figured you could use some help in destroying that boy.”
All at once, the entity started to chant strange words. “Ak-ton-dez-noc-tus, Ak-ton-dez-noc-tus,” he chanted “Come forth, servants of darkness, your master calls you!” A thick black substance started to seep out from the bottom of the container and surround them.
To Mc.Hannibal amazement and in Slick’s case, terror, strange creatures emerged from the substance. They were the size of normal humans, but they looked nothing like humans.
They were covered in black bone-like armor, with claws on their hands and feet. They had horns on their heads. Where their faces should have been, however, was only an orange hollow-like space in the shape of a mask.

“These are my shadow minions, my most loyal servants.” The entity explained. “They will assist you in your plans.” Mc.Hannibal was delighted. “My lord, this is an honour.” He explained.
“There’s more.” The entity added. One blob of darkness appeared from the bottom of the container. As it approached Mc.Hannibal, the shadow minions moved out of its way. It started to take form.
Unlike the shadow minions, it was slightly bigger than them. It was more muscular in appearance and its body and head was covered in scab-like armor. It had glowing green eyes and wicked sharp teeth. “Meet Arthor,” the entity introduced. “One of my strongest shadow warriors and my second-in-command.”
Mc.Hannibal stared at him in wonder. Arthor, on the other hand, stared at him back as well as Slick in distain. “This is the one who freed you?” Arthor asked sarcastically. “I must say, Master, I am quite disappointed.” Slick, by now, almost fainted in fright while Mc.Hannibal narrowed his eyes.
“However,” Arthor continued, looking back at the container. “if you say this man could help us, then I will follow him.” Mc.Hannibal smirked.
“Good, Arthor,” the entity replied. “With my warriors at your command, Mr Hannibal as well as your machines, we will finally destroy the Wild Guardian.” Mc.Hannibal asked. “And I will get my reward?”
“I assure you, Hannibal.” The entity assured. “You will get your reward once you help me.” Mc.Hannibal grinned. “Don’t worry, my lord.” He said. “That boy is as good as dead.” With that, he let out a slow but wicked chuckle.
“Uh, okay…” Slick spoke up, peering out from behind. “Now that we have that settled, can we go now?” he whined.
