Chapter 40: The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall
“MOMMMY!!” a little girl cried out in fear, surrounded by shadow minions. The monsters loomed closer with their claws bared. “Mommy! Where are you?!” “Kkkkkkrrrrssssshhhhh…” the shadow demons advanced slowly.
“Leave her alone!!” Before the demons knew what happened, a slim and athletic figure appeared and struck down one of the shadow demons. The little girl and the other shadow minions stared as Jenny, brandishing a bo staff emerged.
“Kkkkkrraaaasssshhhhaaaaahhhh!!!!” The demons charged forward. Jenney twirled her staff and struck hard at the demons. “Come on!” she challenged. “Is that all you got?!” She turned to the little girl. “Get down!!” The girl wasted no time as she dropped flat to the ground.
Jenny pressed the green button and swung it in a circle. All at once, the staff grew in length and sent the demons flying away and disappear in smoke and shadow. She pressed the red button and her staff shrunk back to its original length.
Jenny hurried over to the girl who was still on the ground. “Are you alright?” The girl looked up with tears in her eyes and grabbed Jenny in a tight hug. “It was so scary!! I thought I’ll never see my mommy again!” Jenny hugged her back. “Come on, let’s go and find her.”
(In another part of Boston Park…)
We find a group of skateboarders hiding out in a clump of bushes. “Are we safe?” asked one skater. “I think so! What were those things?!” another replied.
“Never mind about that!!” A third added. “We’ve got to get out of here!” Their leader emerged out of the bushes and looked around. “Okay! The coast is clear!” With that, the skaters hurried out and rushed to find a safe way out.
“Kkkkkkrrrrraaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!” A shadow minion jumped down from the trees, frightening the boys. “Aaaaarrrgggghhhh!!!!” The boys screamed. “Back off, freak!!” The leader exclaimed, swinging his skateboard wildly at it as a weapon.
However, it was in vain. The demon simply grabbed the skateboard and to their horror, snapped it in half. To make matters worse, more appeared with their claws bared and hissing “Kkkkkkrrrrrrsssssshhhhhh!!!!!” The boys huddled together and braced for the worst.
“How about this?!” At that second, a spear impaled one of the demons’ head, causing it to dissolve. The boys and the demons turned to see Jake standing, with his arms crossed on his chest. “You want me, here I am!!”
“Kkkkkkrrrrraaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!” The shadow minions roared and charged at him. “Rrrrraaaaaggggghhhhhh!!!” Jake let out a wild war cry and charged forward. Each of the demons slashed at him with their claws but Jake dodged every last one of them, abeilt some scratches on his shirt.
Jake reached and grabbed his spear. “Okay, freaks! Taste pure steel!!” He pushed a button and the spearhead started to spin like a drill. “Kkkkkrrrrrraaaaaaaaagggggghhhhhh!!!!” one of the shadow minions howled and lunged at him, only for Jake to impale it and drill a hole right through it, making it disappear.
All the other demons lunged at him but Jake dodged every one of their swipes. “Allow me to return the favor!!!” With a mighty yell, he slashed his spear from left to right, drilling right through every one of the shadow minions.
One by one, all of the shadow minions disappeared in smoke. “Phew!” Jake wheezed, pressing the button and the spearhead stopped spinning. “Dude!!” Jake turned to see the skaters rushing towards him. “You were amazing!!” one of the skaters exclaimed.
“Thanks, but you guys should get to somewhere safe.” The leader nodded and he and the other skaters hurried over to safety. “Good, now to find others and help them out.” Jake added internally before rushing to find Max.
(Meanwhile…)
“Is everyone here?” a man asked his family who are hiding inside a closet in a bicycle rental store. “Yeah, we’re fine.” His wife replied, cradling a girl toddler. “We have to get out of here.” “Daddy, I’m scared.” A little boy whimpered. “It’s okay, son. We’ll be fine.”
“Sssssshhhhhhhhkkkkkkrrrrrr…” The family froze as they heard hissing noises and the sound of something moving outside. “Shhh…” the father whispered. “No sudden noises.” They remained as slient as possible, hoping the noise would go away.
“Wah wah!” The little girl started to cry. “Shush!” Her mother told her, cradling her in an effort to keep her calm. “Kkkrrrrssssshhhhh!!” A loud hiss nearly jolted them in fear. Their hearts were in their throats when they heard footsteps coming closer. The boy huddled closer to his parents, shivering in fear, with his father wrapping his arms around him and his wife.
“CRASH!!!!!!” All at once, roars and screeched were heard, the sounds of fighting and struggling. The mother covered her daughter’s ears while the father wrapped his arms around his family even tighter. “What’s going on out there?!” The mother exclaimed.
When the doors opened, the whole family braced themselves but to their relief, they saw Mikey. “Are you all alright?” he asked. “Yes, we’re fine.” The father replied. “Don’t worry, we’re here to help!” “We?” asked the mother.
“This way!” Mikey gestured the family to follow him. When they emerged, they were shocked to find an athletic boy fighting a group of shadow-like monsters. They noticed that he was wearing armored gauntlets which were glowing brightly.
“Don’t worry!” Mikey assured them. “My friend will handle them! Now, go!” The whole family wasted no time and hurried out with Mikey leading them. Once outside, Mikey warned “Go on ahead and find the park entrance!”
“What about you?!” asked the father. “Don’t worry, my friend and I will be fine! Just go!” With that, the whole family raced off, without a second. “CRASH!!” Mikey jumped and turned around. A shadow minion had been thrown through the wall and landed with a painful thump on the ground.
“Don’t worry about it.” David said, grinning as he exited the bike store. “I took care of every single one of those creeps.” “Well, that’s a relief.” Mikey breathed. “Come on, there might be others in need.” Mikey nodded and the two of them set off. “I just hope Max is okay.” Mikey replied. “Me too.” Added David.
(Back to Max…)
Tiger-Max was having troubles of his own, facing off against Grendal. With every punch, kick and swipe, Grendal was able to counter it. Even in his tiger-hybrid form, he was started to get tired. “Give it up boy!!” Grendal roared. “Even with your powers, I’m stronger than you!!” “No way!” Tiger-Max roared back. “I won’t give up till the day I die!!!”
“Too bad!” Grendal snarled. “Looks like your death is already at hand!” With that, he grabbed Tiger-Max by his hair and threw him like a ragdoll at a wall. “Aaarrrgggghhhh!!!!” Tiger-Max yelled before switching back to his human form. “Look at you. Weak, helpless…” taunted Grendal. “The Spirits of Nature must have been fools to entrust Tantu’s power to a mere child.”
“The master will be pleased once I present your head to him.” He added, approaching him taking out his club. “No way…” Max growled, glaring defiantly at the ogre. “I won’t die so easily.” “Really?” Grendal sneered. “I’m afraid my club says otherwise.” With that, he raised his club high.
“Oh no, you don’t!!” A voice called out. At that split second, David leapt out of nowhere and punched Grendal straight in the face. “GGGGRRRRRAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!” Grendal was flung back and landed in the smashed fountain. “David!” Max exclaimed.
David hurried over and helped Max up. “You okay, jungle man?” he asked. “Yeah, thanks David.” “Hey, what are pals for?” David asked, smirking. “You, fools!” Max and David turned to see Grendal getting out, sopping wet. “Do you really think you can take me on?!”
“They’re not alone!” At that moment, Jenny, Mikey and Jake arrived with the former two brandishing their own weapons. “You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!” Jenny exclaimed. “When we work together, nothing stands in our way!!”
“Well, well!” Grendal taunted. “Looks like I’ll have more heads to present to my master.” “Like hell you are!” Jake shot back. “Besides, I was looking forward to this.” “You’re all either really brave or foolish to challenge me!” Grendal snarled.
“Well, we’re a bit of both.” Max got to his feet, with a determined look on his face. “We never back down even if it kills us!” “YEAH!!!!” His friends cheered. “Very well, boy! You and your friends are doomed, anyway!!!” Grendal roared and charged forward.
“Team W.I.L.D, let’s take him down!!!” Max roared, changing back into his tiger-hybrid form as he and his friends charged at the monster, ready to take him down.
