Chapter 54: Science Fair Showdown: Part 3


The science fair was in full swing. Students were displaying or showing off their inventions and projects to teachers. Right now, Team W.I.L.D had put the finishing touches on their hydro garden.

“There!" Mikey exclaimed. “That should do it." “Well, it’s just in time too." David added. “I heard Professor Ludwig Edward is coming as our surprise judges." “Edward?" Max asked. “Who’s he?"

“Only one of the greatest scientists in all of America." Mikey explained. “Bean is a great fan of his work." “Shhh!" Jenny hushed them. “Mr Hoffmann is going to make an announcement." As if on cue, the noise quietened and Mr Hoffmann stepped forward.

“Ladies and gentlemen!" He called out. “Welcome to this year’s Boston High Science Fair!!” Applause echoed throughout the whole gym and a few cheers were heard. Mr Hoffmann raised his hand for silence.

“As you all know, Boston High is proud to help nurture young minds like all schools.” He added. “Our science fair is the perfect chance for us to display our students’ skills at work.” “Now, to add to this occasion,” he continued. “I have invited a special guest to be our judge for this year’s fair.”

“So, please everyone,” he concluded. “put your hands together for the head scientist from the National University of New York, Professor Ludwig Edward!!” The whole gym was filled with applause as an elderly man with a thin gray beard wearing spectacles and a black business man suit.

As the noise quietened, he spoke up. “Thank you, Mr Hoffmann.” He turned to the crowd. “It is an honor to be invited in one of the greatest schools in America.” He added. “As you know, I’ll be the judge in this year’s science fair.”

“I will be walking around to look at some of your projects,” he continued to explain. “And the group who has the best invention in terms of function, appearance and service will be awarded first place."

“Until the winner is decided,” he finished. “I wish all of you students the best of luck.” The crowd applauded once more as the professor walked off, accompanied by Mr Hoffmann. “Well, you heard the man!” Jake exclaimed. “Let’s get ready for our presentation.”

Immediately, team W.I.L.D went to tend to their project. Little did they know, that a hooded figure watched them from the midst of the crowd. He pressed against the side of his head. “Targets have been spotted.” He whispered. “Prepare the others for the assult.”

“Operation: School Scream will commence in due time.” As he spoke, his eyes glowed an omnious blue. “Soon, the Wild Guardian and his friends, along with this entire school, will know the might of Mc.Hannibal.”
