KH Christmas (Scala ad Caelum) Hope You Like Long Stories...
People were excited for this one.
I guess because it was a new original KH world?
I dunno...I mean it looks neat sure but...well, regardless, people were hyped about this supposed 'final world'.
Oooh speaking of that one...
Oh yeah that's right, there IS actually a "Final World", literally called that, that we passed up...but given what happens in it, I think it's fine. Let's focus on this final stage for KH3 and the wrapping up of the Xenhanort story....well....at least a portion of it, it's till going on...
In order to stop Xehanort from....whatever it was he was really doing, we take a portal jump into...his memories? Or...a dream? Or...something like that?
Oh yeah...not really clear on how that works *blinks* I thought the portals were a throw away thing in Dream Drop, but I guess they're more important than I thought.
Anyway, you'll see the screens. Clouds, sky city stuff, long long sky carriages, etc. Looks nice right? Well it does....not that you get to explore it, like, at all. I mean there was hype for this world and yet you BARELY take a few steps and your walk through of it is over. Within seconds, you are assaulted by semi-boss battles...and while this can take place over a large section of the city...it's kind of hard to appreciate the view when you have scythes and lightning daggers being tossed at you.
Neat fight though, taking them all on at once almost.
Well yeah...but it's not like you get to actually finish the fight, since they all share a health bar. And when you take them down, that's it...trailers hyped them up to be something more but...nope...
And then we get old baldy himself in his own devilish armor...
The ram was a bit much heh heh.
Yeeaaaaahh. Granted, this was a pretty cool set of final fights, plenty of reality warping and a difficulty that might trip you up the first time. Essentially you know the whole 'this is not my final form' stuff, so after a few boss fights, and a friendship push, Xehanort gets defeated. But...it's weird, given how he's done all this stuff just to essentially 'pass things on' to Sora and the group....and even THAT isn't really true, since we now learn he had other plans going on, which makes your victory...kind of hollow.
Ehh...I guess that's true...but at least they set up in the ending for---
The DLC yeah. *shakes head* Honestly, for a finale, KH3 lacked for me. I mean, the fight was nice, but the final world was a bust, your win turns out to not be one, and now we're venturing into something 'new' that may not be Kingdom Hearts anymore.
Overall...Kingdom Hearts 3 is ok...is it Kingdom Hearts? Well, it's more like a fan-pleaser rather than a series-pleaser. The Disney portions seemed to be missing something that they had previously, and the KH original stuff was all packed in the final world, making everything seem rushed. And maybe that's the over feeling there, KH3 felt rushed. Does it look nice? Sure, but improvement certainly could be had. Honestly, it seems to be a plague on games these days, who hope that high-end graphics will see them through over everything else.
I do think it was fun to go to some of these worlds though, and the overall experience is one I'd remember heheh.
I guess...but it just seems like the series took a dip since 2. Maybe it's because of the long stretch it took to get 3 out...where even creators and staff from the old days forgot the roots of what made KH great. I mean, I'd like to play the original and 2 again, but haven't really picked up 3 since finishing, which I guess is the easiest testament to knowing something was off.
Well...I did have fun playing together! Thanks for the Ultimate Weapon help by the way, never would have gotten past that one boss without it hehehe.
Oh jeez...and the lack of extra stuff...oooooh...and the reveal that (spoiler) was (spoiler)....
Oh yeah! The secret movie! Jeez that was a dinger...
*shakes head* Honestly, even if you plug the DLC into the original 3, which they should have done...still missing some things. Ah well, I guess every good series has it's black sheep...guess we'll see what happens when 4 comes....in a few years.
Oooh right, the fleet of side-games comeith heheh.
Oui...just...pleeeease...no time travel Square...no more please....
