(Chester and Geoff)
The next two days were thankfully pretty stress-free for the most part. When it came to grocery shopping, luckily Chester kept himself under control. While he was tempted to take whatever snacks he wished like he used to do, but kept himself from doing so as he knew Geoff would be really mad at him. In the end, the trip went w/o a hitch. Chester even got a bag of chips when they got home! As for the rest of day, Geoff mainly spent time paying the house bills. Chester, bored, simply went around playing. Overall, it was a pretty boring day. It actually got so boring that Chester took a nap! Waking Chester up for dinner ended being a chore, as Chester was a surprisingly heavy sleeper! It took a few minutes to finally get him to wake up (Geoff oddly found sleepy Chester to be a little... cute?). As for the two days that followed, they were pretty typical. On Sunday, Geoff and Chester simply explored the city. Chester adored the sights very much while Geoff was mildly amused by Chester's enthusiasm. While the passerby gave the companions strange looks, neither really cared. The best part was Geoff brought some money so that they could go out to lunch. Breakfast and dinner were still at home, though. As for Monday, the companions went back to work. It was the same old, same old, except for Chester and Lola's dynamic. Due to their new rivalry, Chester noticed more of Lola's jealous tendencies and would smile smugly at her. Whenever Lola was about to threaten Chester or something, he would shut her down by reminding her that he could easily crush her TV head and bury it. (That might sound terrible, but to be fair, Lola was trying to threaten him first). Luckily for both, Geoff didn't really notice this behavior as it was done whenever he wasn't around. After that day, though, it was time for the companions to get back into action...
...
(Chester and Geoff)
On Tuesday morning, Chester sensed something horrible during a breakfast of simple ham and cheese quesadillas.
Oh no... Chester thought.
Geoff noticed something was off when Chester's spoon clattered.
"What's wrong?" Geoff asked, concerned.
"She's found her next victim..." Chester said quietly.
Geoff raised an eyebrow.
"Dafuq?" He asked.
Chester slammed his hands onto his lap and his expression became stoic, and Geoff shrank back at that. Chester, seeing this, quickly changed to a softer face.
"It's my mom. She's found someone else w/ a strong SOUL."
Geoff calmed down and gave a weird look.
"I'm sorry, but how in the nine circles of hell do you know that?"
Chester shrugged.
"I think it's that piece of her I ate is what's doing it..."
Geoff kept the weird look for a bit, before shaking his head and sipping his spiked coffee.
What the fuck is my life anymore...? He thought.
"How are we going to get to her, though?" Chester asked reasonably.
Geoff was about to say "How dafuq should I know?" before he thought of something.
"Oh, wait. I have an idea!" Geoff said, "Patrick can teleport us there."
"*gasp* Really?" Chester asked.
"Yeah, I mean he is a demon, and that's something all demons can do," Geoff said.
Quickly, the companions wolfed down the rest of their food (Chester, of course, did it faster while Thread drank blood quicker). After that, Chester became hoodie on Geoff again, and the two immediately ran out. After a bit, the companions finally met Patrick at the construction zone. The latter waved at the two.
"Oh, heya!" Patrick said.
Patrick then gave the Chester hoodie a weird look.
"Is this going to be a regular thing?" Patrick asked.
Geoff nodded briskly.
"But that's not important," Geoff said quickly, "We need you to teleport us somewhere."
Patrick's eyebrows went up.
"Um, ok, where to?"
Geoff was about to say something before he realized that he didn't know where they were going!
"Um, Chester, where are we supposed to go?"
Hoodie-Chester made a shrug motion.
"I don't know the name of the place. I simply know that it's pretty far from here."
Geoff facepalmed.
"That doesn't fucking help us!"
"Wait, I have an idea!" Patrick said.
"What?" Geoff and Chester asked.
"If you can concentrate hard on enough on the spot, I can get you there. But you have to concentrate hard enough, or we might end up somewhere else entirely," Patrick said.
"Why does this sound like something that a writer pulled out of their ass?" Geoff asked.
He looks toward the front, much to the others' confusion.
"No," Patrick said, "This is something that demons can do if they don't know the exact location. As long as someone in the group can at least sense the spot, the teleportation can be done. The only hard part is that you need to concentrate all your attention on that one feeling/thought. It's something that demons could do for years, but it's not used as often because of phones and such, but it can still be done."
"Can we go already?" Geoff asked.
"Right, right, of course," Patrick said while hastily thrusting his hands out.
Geoff and Chester quickly took them.
"Now, Chester, concentrate on your feeling as hard as you can," Patrick informed the gooey hoodie.
Chester made some concentration noises. Patrick twitched his tail slowly, and the three disappeared. Teleportation felt very horrible for both companions. It felt like getting pulled through a tight tunnel incredibly fast! Geoff hated every bit of it. As for Chester, despite his childish nature, couldn't help but mirror the sentiment, though his concentration managed to remain unbroken through sheer will. After a few seconds that felt like hours, the three friends were finally on the other side. It was a large, sprawling plateau w/ lots and lots of dry land, pits, and barrenness. Geoff stumbled around a bit, trying to get his bearings, while Chester's form became a bit unstable. As for Thread, he awkwardly stumbled along w/ the hoodie.
"Holy fuck!" Geoff shouted.
"UGH~!" Chester groaned.
Patrick gave them a sympathetic look.
"Sorry, teleportation is always horrible the first time. Call me when you're done, though, I have to get back to work."
Patrick then slowly twitched his tail and left. After the companions got their bearings, Geoff shook his head.
"Tell me we don't have to do that again!" Hoodie-Chester shouted.
Geoff cringed and groaned.
"If this going to be a regular thing, then we won't have a choice..."
"Aw, c'mon!" Chester whined.
Geoff, rather than responding, simply dashed forward. On the way, the companions passed a startled-looking person who they paid no mind.
MISSION START!
(Song: Desert Dazzle Present (JP Ver.))
The stage itself was a heck of a lot more dynamic compared to the last two. The terrain was full of large rocks and formations, so Geoff had to use Chester to climb up them. Chester was able to dig his claws into softer stuff while they were also great for gripping onto rocky surfaces!
(Jump to a wall and hold the jump button to scale the wall).
There were also some nasty little critters on the ground such as tarantulas (which Thread hatefully hissed at), rodents, beetles (Thread would try his best to capture these for food), and etc. that Geoff had to avoid. As for enemies, there were weird, orange, buff humanoid creatures that mainly attacked by uppercutting powerfully and shooting out orange blasts! Geoff had to keep his distance from the uppercutting ones, and he had to jump over the blasts from the others. As for Geoff's new trait that Chester shared, it turned out to be quite useful here.
(Press the right shoulder button or L to switch weapon type)
When Geoff switched his SOUL to cyan, his weapon became a cyan knife w/ black lines and Chester's weapon became a long, ribbon-like thing of the same color. Geoff was able to rapid-fire these things at the enemies and they were able to cut the enemies down to size! As for Chester's weapon, it was pretty much a worse version of Chester's usual weapon as it could only lift things. The only better part was that the ribbon was faster than the chain. The only thing that hadn't changed was that the Chester part of the G/C Combo worked the same way as before. After a while, though, Geoff and Chester reached their destination and realized they were too late. There was a big guy w/ fighter clothes sprawled out on the ground. Above him, there was an orange, wispy thing. Lilith was also there, a dark orange SOUL above her hand. Strangely, there was also someone trapped in dark flames, struggling inside. Before Geoff and Chester could do anything, though, Lilith immediately rushed.
"DANG IT!" Chester shouted.
Suddenly, though, just like the other day, the wispy thing flew towards the companions. Once it flowed into them, the world went dark. In the darkness, the companions saw some messy and unclear images for a few seconds before coming back. And not a moment too soon, because, suddenly, a dark burst flew past Geoff as he quickly dodged it!
"Whoa! What the fuck?!" Geoff shouted.
There was a big purple and black shadow monster, wearing an oddly formal business suit who had a strange, glazed look. Geoff gasped when he recognized who this person was. It was the leader of the Freelance Seven, Ash!
"What's wrong?" Geoff asked.
Suddenly, Ash shot out another dark burst!
"I think he's meaning to fight! And I don't think he'll take no for an answer!" Chester shouted.
Another burst was thrown as Geoff brought out his and Chester's weapons.
"I think you might be right..." Geoff replied.
FIGHT START!
(Song: Boss Theme from Sonic 4 Episode 2)
The fight itself was pretty intense, to say the least. Ash rushed around the area, shooting out dark bursts and attacking w/ powerful slaps and punches. Another attack he used was a square attack where he'd make empty squares w/ exclamation points and, after a couple of seconds, they'd explode outward in the direction they faced! In essence, they hit hard and were difficult to dodge! As for new weaponry, Geoff got glowing orange fists that let him perform a strong uppercut. As for Chester, he got a weird, orange bandana, and he could fire off orange blasts! (Though, the way he did it could've gotten the companions copyright struck). All in all, the fight was crazier than the previous ones. After a while of intense back-and-forth, Ash's health was dropped to 1%! (Which was good, because Geoff and Chester were at 15%!). At this point, Ash finally dropped, much to the companions' relief!
VICTORY!
After a bit, though, some dark smoke left the big, shadowy guy. After the smoke disappeared, Ash slowly rose. Geoff and Chester, not trusting this, immediately got their weapons out.
"Oh, fuck..." Ash said while rubbing his head darkness.
"Are you still fucking mental?" Geoff asked.
Ash looked up and gave him a look.
"What the hell are you fucking talking about?"
"Um, hello?" Chester said, "You literally attacked us!"
"Really? I don't recall. If that's true, then I'm sorry that my *scoff* fabulous self caused you so much trouble |:T."
Geoff rolled his eyes and dissipated his weapon while Chester did the same.
Holy shit, he's one of THOSE people... Geoff thought.
Yeah... Chester thought back.
Geoff jumped at that. He'd forgotten that Chester could do that. Ash then slowly rose. When he saw Chester, though, he was taken aback.
"Drake? What the hell?" Ash asked.
Geoff gave a look while Chester got a weird expression.
"Um, no. My name is Chester."
Ash got a weird look himself.
"Are you sure? You look like how he used to, and you even sound quite a bit like him, just higher-pitched. Also, how the fuck are you attached to someone like that?"
Chester was taken aback at that.
"That sounds... interesting, but I can assure you, I'm not whoever this Drake person. As for what I'm doing, my dad is probably the reason why I can do this-"
Ash immediately shook his head at that and shook his hands forward.
"No, no, I've heard enough," Ash said.
He then took out his phone and turned away. After dialing a number, he put the phone up to his strange head.
"Hey, Cherry? Yeah, I need a lift..." Ash said.
Geoff turned his head to Chester.
"Let's go," Geoff said.
Chester nodded and went back into the rest of his hoodie form. Geoff then quickly ran off. Unbeknownst to the two, Ash turned back to speak to them again, but they were already gone. After a long trek back through the plateau, Geoff and Chester finally got back to their starting point. Once there, Geoff pulled his phone out and dialed Patrick's number.
"Hey, Pat?" Geoff asked.
"Yeah?" Patrick replied.
"Can you pick us up? The mission is over."
"Ok."
A little bit after Geoff hung up, Patrick showed up and held out his hands. Shuddering and being ever so hesitant, Geoff and Chester took the hands. Twitching his tail slowly, Patrick teleported the three of them away.
The next two days were thankfully pretty stress-free for the most part. When it came to grocery shopping, luckily Chester kept himself under control.
