(Chester and Geoff)
On the other side, the three friends ended up back in front of the construction zone. (For those curious, the skyscraper was almost finished. All that was left was the unfinished top). After Geoff and Chester let go of Patrick, they waved goodbye.
"Wait!" Patrick shouted.
Geoff stopped and turned.
"Are you really sure you're ok at this point?" Patrick asked, "I mean, I really do feel like you should see someone for this. This clearly isn't right!"
Geoff sighed.
"I appreciate your concern. I really do. But trust me. I feel fine," Geoff assured his friend.
"Are you really sure? 'Cause I mean, this isn't how a human should look!" Patrick said, very much concerned.
Geoff sighed again and turned.
"Again, I'm fine. Please, stop asking me," Geoff said firmly as he began to walk off and Chester waved from behind.
"But..." Patrick started.
Unfortunately, though, Geoff and Chester were out of earshot, much to Patrick's worry and chagrin.
...
(Chester and Geoff)
Unfortunately, that day was a repair shop day, which didn't exactly make Geoff happy. As per usual, Lola flirted w/ Geoff throughout the workday. Before working, though, Geoff put the newspaper from Lilith in the breakroom. As for the workday itself, it ended being HECK for Geoff. While things were business as usual for Chester, they were pretty horrible for Geoff. On top of Lola's annoying flirting, Thread constantly kept trying to bite into Geoff's skin. Not only did it sting really badly, but when Chester tried to capture Thread, the sneaky little crap quickly moved away from Chester and hid in Geoff's clothing, much to Geoff's outrage and discomfort. After a long while of working, though, all these factors slowly built up Geoff's dander. Eventually, after a particularly hard bite as Lola was still flirting during lunch, Geoff finally snapped.
"OH MY GOD, WILL YOU JUST SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH ALREADY?!" Geoff shouted.
Lola was instantly taken aback by this w/ a pained expression. Chester suddenly became in where this conversation was going w/ a curious look.
"What?" Lola asked in a small voice.
Seeing Lola's expression and hearing that tone, Geoff quickly calmed down a little, but not fully.
"Sorry, that was the fucking annoyance speaking," Geoff apologized while rubbing his temple, "But, in all seriousness, though, can you please just stop already? I am clearly not into you."
Lola gaped while Chester sipped from a sippy cup w/ wide eyes.
"What do you mean?" Lola asked in a weird voice.
Geoff sighed in exasperation as he moved to Chester.
"I'm just not into you. In fact...," Geoff said while turning his head to Chester, "Chester and I are sort of a thing now."
Chester blushed at that while Lola got an expression that was both outraged and betrayed.
"B-but, you're straight as a pencil, Eddie!"
Geoff sighed and shook his head.
"How do you know Lola?" Geoff asked, "How do you know I haven't been gay this whole time?"
Lola began to splutter a bit as her head overheated. Quickly, she ran out of the room flustered. At that, Geoff became a bit deflated.
"Um, I think I might've gone too far..." Geoff muttered.
Chester giggled.
"Well, she needed to know at some point," Chester said, "Besides, it's not like you could let her be stupid like that forever :3."
Geoff couldn't help but give Chester a bruh look.
So, I guess the pot is calling the kettle black now... Geoff thought.
What do you mean? Chester thought back.
Geoff jumped a bit at that. Suddenly, he felt another bite on the back of his neck! He yelped and quickly snatched a wriggling Thread off of his neck and shoved him into Chester's hands.
"Keep that fucker on a goddamn leash already!" Geoff shouted.
He then stormed off. Usually, Chester would've gone stoic and used his barely controllable psychic powers, but in this case, he simply gave Thread a disappointed look as he did more than understand why Geoff was so angry (the biting was pretty bad for him at first, too). The rest of the workday was a bit more awkward after that break. Lola chose to stay behind a closed door. Strangely, Geoff heard the songs "Bring Me Back to Life" by Evanescence and "Hello, Darkness, My Old Friend." When he realized this, Geoff couldn't help but roll his eyes and shake his head at the tackiness. As for Thread, Chester forcibly kept Thread tied down in his gooey fur. Thankfully, Thread wasn't too bothered by this as he simply sucked Chester's blood instead. Eventually, though, the end of the workday came. Before Geoff and Chester left, though, Geoff chose to check on Lola. She laid down on the floor, her screen somewhat glitched while the music kept on playing.
"Um, are you good?" Geoff asked.
Lola looked up before flopping back down. Geoff kneeled down.
"Look, I'm sorry for how cold I was earlier, but you've got to understand. I'm just not into you. I should've told you earlier."
Lola got up to Geoff's level at that. She sighed.
"Well..., I'm sorry that kept on going w/ my advancements. I guess I was just deluded..."
Geoff gave a small smile and put out his hand.
"Still friends?" Geoff asked.
Lola hesitated before taking the hand.
"Sure. I think we should have some space away from each other, though," she said.
Geoff nodded. He then stood up and walked out the door to Chester.
"Ready?" Geoff asked.
Chester nodded happily and went on Geoff as a hoodie again. Before he left, though, Geoff went into the break room and took the newspaper out, and left. After a bit, Geoff had finally gotten home by bike. Once in the house, Geoff and Chester separated. After that, Geoff prepared a simple sandwich dinner. After the two were done, Geoff took the newspaper in his hands. Chester looked at Geoff intently w/ bated breath. For Geoff, he took a deep breath and let it out. Slowly, he opened the newspaper and read the encircled parts that he found. In a grave tone and w/ a not-too-happy expression, Geoff read through the entire thing out loud and wished he hadn't done so. A man named Natas Nightshade (who Geoff assumed was Chester's father), was found to be an abusive, psychopathic serial killer. He'd gone around undercover, killing whoever he pleased. The horrible monster made himself appear like a nice man, but in reality, he was anything BUT that. Even worse, Natas had a son named Drake, whom he'd tortured every day. That son had ended up ending Natas' life in a dangerous fight and had nearly died doing so. Despite his injuries, Drake ended up surviving and is now living a good life as he was taken in by a nice, monster family. Finally, to add insult to injury, the newspaper stated that Natas had no other family besides Drake, no other children, relations, etc. Once Geoff was finished, he was scared to lower the paper.
"Oh, fuuuuuuuck..." Geoff muttered under breath, knowing that Chester would NOT take this well.
Slowly and VERY hesitantly, Geoff lowered the paper and looked to Chester. Chester had a shadow over his eyes, his mouth set in a dotted line.
"...Chester? Buddy?" Geoff asked timidly, "Is, uh, everything... ok?"
For a moment, there was silence. Then, Chester began to chuckle lowly. Geoff, despite hearing Chester giggle many times, couldn't help but feel on edge as this laugh didn't sound cheerful. It sounded... insidious and empty.
"Heh... heh..." Chester chuckled.
For a few seconds, silence ensued. Then-
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Chester screamed at the top of his lungs while facing the ceiling.
Suddenly, every door slammed open and closed while the lights flickered on and off while Chester kept on screaming! Geoff, fearing for his life, tried to escape, but was caught Chester in midair. Geoff desperately tried to break Chester's psychic grip, but, scarily, to no avail. Suddenly, though, all the lights in the house shattered and Geoff felt himself get sucked into cold, lonely darkness...
