Chili has every reason to run away when a selfish teacher blames the student for not doing right, when she should've understood Chili needed extra guidence. The only note I'd leave is a Fuck You and go. (Excellent page btw! Your pacing and body language is amazing as always!)
Wow...I'd like to offer tutelage as an apothecary, I was trained. And my master was colorblind.
He taught me how to identify certain leaves, by base appearance of the leaf, smell and by the stem appearance
(So many times I had to stop people planting poison ivy, when they thought it was Box Elder or Boston Ivy) and when we needed to tell the difference quickly
he had an obsidian glass monocle. Turns out if in a hurry, several leaves will have a sheen or shine that shows under the glass

Now that, is awesome. I didn't know you could see that with an obsidian monocle, but it's crazy that it helped him that much! Especially a flex with him being colorblind, it makes me wonder who his teacher was and what they did to help him become such a positive influence in his field.
He was from Russia. Moved to USA, with his family after world war 1. He lived around Oregon and he never spoke much about his master. He mentioned he was terrified of her. Everyone called her a witch and she acted like one. His mother demanded he learn from her. As for the monocle. Something about level of UV absorption. Caused poisonous plants to shine when looking through it. Poison Oak and Ivy, being the easiest examples
I met him at a renfaire when I was 7 and was fascinated by him. Something told me, he was safe and he was wise. So he taught me and I learned with earnest. Sadly, he passed away about ten years go. So I couldn't complete training to become a fully recognized apothecary, so now I just occasionally gather herbs. It's irritating when you're pulling soft bark off a willow and people ask you "Why don't you just buy the aspirin instead of making it?"
