Chroma has become... referenced.

They can control all the individual bristles of hair, rubbing them together like crickets to produce tones, their rib-gill-things act like bellows, and their "wings" (which they can't fly with and are only for communication and intimidation) and fur can change colors (either through refraction or pigment change, who knows). Because of this, they are very good with just about any sort of alien language (it helps they’re fast learners).

Their species evolved from prey, and come across as nonconfrontational/flighty.

Their species sort of stumbled upon a clean energy solution (which is, basically and hilariously, putting a warp gate based off those quantum particles that behave the same as each other at long distances in the middle of a star and thusly profiting) and then kind of realized they could solve basically all galactic suffering, so they go offering these as gifts to places.

Chroma was sent to investigate earth and report back on the culture/etc so that a diplomatic meeting could be held, and they end up being found by two college students. Shenanigans ensue.
