Cooking instructions:
(I use olive oil to cook with)
1: Thaw/Prepare 2 Ahi Tuna steaks for cooking.
2: Fill small-medium sized pan with a thin layer of oil, just enough to prevent the fish from sticking.
3: Add fish to pan gently to prevent oil from splashing and catching fire.
4: Move fish in pan with a spatula until the bottom of the fish is coated with oil.
5: Set stovetop to HIGH until the oil starts to boil, then set to medium heat (5/8 on the dial) until fish is done cooking. (for electric stove top)
6: once the bottom of the fish starts to turn tan, add: ground black pepper & crushed red pepper flakes to taste, then add a pinch of salt, ground or crushed ginger, and cumin.
7: Cook until half of the fish is tan, move around in pan to prevent burning. Once 1/3 to 1/2 of the fish is tan, flip the fish carefully and gently with a spatula, then re-add all of the above ingredients except salt and cook until only the middle is pink. Then, flip the fish a final time and cook until the middle is well-done.
8: Add teriyaki sauce to taste.
Crushed ginger is preferred over ground ginger, though either one will do. I use olive oil for this, I do not recommend using vegetable or peanut oil, since using those in a pan makes them much more likely to spill than olive oil. This isn't supposed to be frying the fish in a ton of oil, just using a small layer on the bottom of the pan to prevent it sticking/burning.
