Liu is the head priest and caretaker of the Temple of Blood Tears in the Weeping Forest, home to the largest number of ghosts and curses on the continent. His job is to see off the souls who could not go to the other world on their own and to expel the clots of dark itе́ria that are born from the tears and sorrows of the Guardian there, for whom he is also obliged to follow. So, making a daily detour, Liu often picks up lost or injured animals in the forest. In one of the very cloudy and especially restless days, the priest finds a lost white sacred fawn. Taking the trembling baby in his arms, Liu hugged him to himself and began to sing softly a tune that he used to lull his children to sleep. When he reached the temple, he bathed and fed Waii, deciding to leave him by his side until the fawn was stronger. But even after a while, already stronger, Waii did not want to leave his savior and stayed to live with him
