Proud he stands over his land.
Distance swallows time.
Sunlight.
But not him.
My contribution to the Rare 2011 - An Extinct Calendar. I unconditionally wanted to get the Mammoth as those creatures always fascinated me. The colours and image took quite a lot of my energy and I lost myself in it.
The past 25 hours I worked on the image were spent at a room of 30 degrees which made everything difficult for me. In fact, it was hard to focus on more details as the heat really ate my patience and energy.
But I could beat myself to get thos done just as I wanted it to. ^^

There is so much I want to say about this piece, I dont know where to start. Its breath taking in the majesty the figure captures, cultivating this sense of a lone sentinel, perhaps the last of his kind.
The vista though is what really captures me, the long range of mountains, otherwise white and barren. Its so very beautiful. It inspires!
I know I'll be getting one, for sure.
