Smokin' Slaughter Style [Metaphorka]

"As the years pass, nations yearn to outpace the others in every facet of their being. In a world cruel and corrupt, with revolutionary hope stifled by the threat of opposition seizing a moment of vulnerability, justice and vengeance are all too interchangeable.
The world grows more industrious by the second; inventors strike upon new designs, incautious of the latent horror their weapons of death will wreak.
Or so it was, in a world of a distant plane. The firearms of this planet grow much less widespread: the energies pervading the world eroded their projectiles as they travelled at supersonic speeds, keeping their effective range limited. Hence, their dominion in warfare never quite reached supremacy.
But they are no less dangerous. Where a blade wrought havoc upon the weakness of flesh and muscle, it could find no purchase against the solidity of metal and stone.
Where blades failed, handcannons did not: a kaleidoscope of smoke and scrap iron would crack bones and eviscerate organs with vicious ease.
Thenceforth, those fortunate enough were bestowed another weapon to further their goals of criminal purification."
Some new ideas put into play here, most notably around the head area, eyes especially. Very pleased with the results.
And you'd better not deny the appeal of the red and black background aesthetic when done in such a clean fashion as this.
Many thanks to
Metaphorka to this stylish piece, demonstrating a much appreciated openness to experimentation.
Honestly, this was probably the most complex commission I've asked for yet, in terms of how many reference images were given. But after some back-and-forth, it turned out excellent, as you can see.
Please do give their page a look; they were great to work with.
