Stuck an NPC that was just supposed to function as an amiable cart driver the party ran into in order get my party between two locations and have some dialogue and wagon shenanigans (blocked road, etcetera) before the next plot beat. What actually then happened was that a LOT more talking happened than I was expecting (all of it hilarious, including the fact that apparently the cowboy's dad perished in a shotgun fight with the cowboy... while the cowboy character was SIX) and also the cowboy Lucario and this guy got into a relationship, apparently. His name WAS Adam, but the Lucario came up with a cool name for when they hypothetically become bandit kings-- Razortooth, with the name being given to the Lucario in return being "Lone Wolf."
When we got into town, those two had an evening of... COWBOY ACTIVITIES. The rest of the party freaked out in the adjourning inn rooms.

Needless to say, we did not get anywhere NEAR the next plot beat.
