so ive had this idea bouncing around in my head about a world thats popped up out of pure code (inspired by Paper Beast, which is built around the same concept), complete with life and ecosystems and whatnot. since the world is made out of code, i was thinking, "hmm, what'd be a good visual theme to tie all of this together?" then i was introduced to vib-ribbon, and i absolutely ADORE the simple, geometric style that's kinda like, faux-2D, and i thought i could build off that style into something of my own. so these are some preliminary doodles exploring that style idea.
in tandem with this idea is the concept of, in this world, lower poly appearance = less behaviorally complex, so the bugs are basically just lines then theres the 2D sheep/pig/thing in the top right, and then a more complex predator creature that id imagine has complex hunting patterns and social behaviors, but ultimately its still 2D. then you have things like the Data Worm in the bottom right which, though 3D, is still simple in behavior (move wherever and eat anything in its way, while turning that data into its own code), and the "portal deer" in the top left whose design still needs some work but i think would be a sentient character in the story.
some food for thought i guess
