woah pretty cool Icarus. ya got some great ingenuity there, with the clothes an all, always kinda wondered how nikitak clothes would look. great stuff goin on over here.

generally nikitaks and clothing DON'T work, but chaz made it a character point that saar' wears about as much clothing as a normal humanoid. it was kinda tricky, their dimensions really aren't designed for clothes XB

but you prevailed! he prolly figured you could do it, i mean you had the ingenuity to create entire species, so clothes would've been slightly easier. and they look good on em.

that's true i guess XD now if i can manage to make a comic page in the same day...

prolly true, cause i have a hell of a time tryin to make my characters look 'dynamic' when they do somethin.

t's all about the spine, i've learned. but the problem is sometimes you can't fit enough of the spine into a panel to make it look good.

so why not draw outside the panel, like get a bigger piece of paper, or a bigger window however you do it, and just draw outside the panels. or draw the scene first and then put the panels over it, anticipating where you might put text boxes and the like. i mean, thats how m'doin this one request, th'girl wanted one of those photo strips ya get froma photo booth at the mall with her character makin funny faces in it, and some of em i'm just gonna put half her face in, so i draw the whole head, then erase what i don't use. you follow?

well i try that, but ocassionally there is no more space outside the panel to use. i draw using a piece of board and a pad of bristol paper. you can't really sketch off the bristol onto the board in a way that works. believe me, i've tried it a lot. and i put the text boxes in last, anyway.

during the sketch phase, nothing is set in stone and panel borders mean very little. but when you're sketching five or six panels in close proximity, you can't really keep drawing someone's body when it's ruining the sketch of another panel.

tl;dr - i tried that, it's a lot harder than you'd think.

Iiii want to hug it. I'm not used to wanting to hug Nikitaks, I'm used to wanting to hug Chuians. I think it's the clothes that makes it click with me.

What color(s) of marker was that on the Nikitak's fur, anyway? It looks so much nicer than plain white. This pic too has a pretty strong sense of depth. Or maybe I just got un-used to how you usually do your art or something. I dunno. Either way, I like it!

they're copic warm grey 2 and 1, along with a little deleter ochre beige. :o layering ftw!
