I really love how Jessica is making a weird and confused face at Gem for her getting inco pants and how Gem is super nervous by her eye twitching when she leaves the store the best. You are always really good at showing genuine emotions regardless of the situation in each page throughout the comic. ^^

It took me a while to work up the courage to buy diapers at a grocery or retail store. I remember going through a few phases:
1. "Nope.. I guess I don't want them today."
2. "I'll buy them, but I'll bury them under all the other normal stuff people get at a store."
3. "If I don't look at them in my cart they're invisible to everyone!"
4. "Oops... outta diapees!" *slings a big ole pack over my shoulder then slams them down on the register, the only thing I'm picking up that day.*

26 pounds for one pack? She must have picked out a good brand. Still, I recognize that compulsion to defend one's self when buying them in person. It's so hard not to feel like you're being silently judged by the cashier. :p

I grew up in a very small town, so it was doubly embarrassing my first few times that I was buying Pampers and the cashier knew me because she was a family friend xD

I don't think Gem's being very subtle, but the cashier isn't complaining, so Gem's clear.

As someone who used to help with cash registers, I can almost guarantee the cashier neither remembered what was just sold nor even really heard what was said.

To those still nervous about buying stuff in stores and can't do self-checkout, relaaaaaax

I remember the first time I got the courage to get them. I got a pack and a candy bar and said it was a prank I think that she bought it. but boy was she a talker. I don't think I ever went in that store again.

I think the best strategy for this would be "Don't say anything." Don't offer any material, and they can't respond.

I buy med adult diapers at store. I say nothing.
