I also met a Dugong siren! She was enjoying some seagrass jelly, and by the looks of it, it was really sweet.
I tried to ask her some directions, but I forgot that I don't speak her language. In the end, we were able to speak through simple gestures.
This was my first time meeting a siren. Before I only heard about them in rumors and political talks. They say that they have frequent contact with the races of the Overland.
I envy them! They can so easily breathe overwater... Plus, they can use all those weird tools coming from the Overland...
I've heard that through some special suit, even I could go overwater. It would be a dream come true! Ah~"

It seems that our Lulu is enjoying her time in the sun, encountering a Dugong siren who is eating some seagrass jellies. Sirens are different from mermaids. Mermaids are strictly fish-like and can only breathe underwater. Sirens are mammalian mermaids that breathe air and can even go on land, though they need to stay hydrated. By looking at the overlanders' histories, most agree that the first peaceful contact with sirens was made with those of the Dugong tribe. Because of this, they are often called "True Sirens". Thanks to the mediation of the Dugong tribe, other siren tribes were able to make contact with overlander races. In complete contrast is the relationship between sirens and other mermaid races. Most are not in good terms, some are even at war. The protei are at peace with the sirens, though it's a precarious one, since it's based on some shady accords...

For those who were wondering, seagrass jelly is a specialty of the Dugong tribe. They harvest Neptune grass found in their meadows and bring it in freshwater. There, they boil it while adding potash and starch, and then cool it down in blocky moulds. Most freshwater races like these jellies, and most saltwater races find it too sweet. For overlanders it's actually a little bitter.
