Maybe his steadfast loyalty to his ying-friend caught Vizlet's attention in more ways than one.

Nay! They come from the salt swamps, within which grows many plants who have adapted to be toxic in different ways, so sayeth the val salian guide pages! Yinglets, as it is known, can eat just about anything and survive. Their insides even are as elastic as their limbs and joints are, to pass accidental swallowing of indigestible objects smaller than their mouth and throat capacity. Many humans die in old age simply of constipation or a typically mild infection, you know, so it can be a serious problem. Not for yinglets.
It is partially in their immune system, but also partially in the metabolism, or the rate of their body's chemical processes, including their immune system. Some things they are outright immune to, some things will only effect them for a short while with (proportionally) massive quantities, until they have their sixth hour nap and feel swell again. A foreign toxin to the acrid swamps like alcohol will effect them a bit, but not for very long, comparatively. Humans can still beat them in drinking contests by volume, only because of their size and their saturation point being then larger, but yinglets got the slow and steady bit down pat.
Speculation I guess, because there's no cannon awknowledgement that yinglets even have the same effects when imbibing alcohol, I think? A big fan here, but not a completionist fan...

The trick is: It's NOT alcohol. It's clam juice.
Remember, clams are just like drugs... without the hangover to yings. I can see the Trademaster having the kitchen prep some clam juice to help in... negotiations... with the Yinglet Matriarch.
Elim being a natural choice of bodyguard to help the Matriarch to her temporary quarters.

Viz, you smell like clam chowder, and I couldn't be more attracted to you.

Indeed, judging from what we have seen in the comic and given the nature of both species, it has to have happened at some point in the past or is happening somewhere currently in the wide world. Given their genetic malleability it would seem to be difficult to ascertain whether Human / Yinglet hybrids exist or not. Some Yinglets do seem to possess rather Human-like characteristics, but does that mean that there are Human genes in the family tree there somewhere, or is it just coincidence, the result of a random genetic roll of the dice? I suppose we will find out if and whenever it formally pops up in the main storyline.
