Meijer is a regional chain of super stores. I first went to one when I visited my friend in Toledo and we went out late after his radio show to the 24 hour location of this fairly new to the area chain. When I moved to Louisville, I worked for Meijer briefly and helped them open their store. I remember the "candle" aisle, even after a few days was merchandised like dook so I got in there and made it clean. When I moved back to Cleveland, the closet Meijer was in Sandusky and every now and then I'd get a 12 pack of my favorite Mountain Spew clone "Rocky Mist" (It's less sweet and syrupy.) When the K-Martageddon happened slowly, Meijer became the beneficiary. They tore down and rebuilt stores that were Super K-Marts, but the one in Seven Hills.. I'd found my folding desk at that K-Mart, which was one of the last ones in all of Northern Ohio. It did at one time in the 70's have a K-Mart Foods store attached, so bigger than it seemed and Meijer bought it all. They rebuilt it into a very big, clean place to shop. It's 15 minutes away. Giant Eagle has a liquor store.
