meh, most of The Spirits Within was a hoax, cuz they ran out of money =,= but all in alll, was a GREAT practice on gestures, facials, textures, even gun-fire, suits, 3D graphics. I only really own the DvD because it had some interesting parts >.>

The only thing connecting FF is Chocobos, Mogs and other assorted mascots[lol, Cid].

Other than that none of the Final Fantasys are linked, saying it has nothing to do with the games when the games themselves have nothing to do with each other[apart from intentionally linked sequels] is kind of invalid argument XD

Ironically, the makers of the movie were the same people who made the games.

Even so, Final Fantasy has always been about, well, FANTASY, not Science Fiction. Sure there have been ones with SciFi elements but the roots were still very fantasy.

...Sci-Fiction = Fiction = Fantasy. As far as I know there are -no- rules to how fantasy is played out, especially considering Final Fantasys HAVE delved into Sci-Fi elements in their worlds[FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10, FF13]. Again an invalid argument, if the guy just doesn't like the movie he can say that, his reasoning into opinions/personal preferences while trying to be factual however is redundant, that's all I was pointing out.

If Spirits Within was put in a game format and marketed as a Final Fantasy I doubt he'd complain. It'd be on par with FF8/FF13[can't be compared in sense of how well the turn out would be as it never happened, but as far as world setting? uh yea] to say the least and some others. If you couldn't identify the fantasy elements in Spirits Within, it seems we're not talking about the same film at all D8

I remember watching that movie for free on base; I like the idea behind it but there's so many cliches in the movie, it gets boring.
