I may get outvoted, but I say you should visit the Item Shop.
As a compulsive upgrader, I put great faith in having the best equipment.
You never know when you'll need a +1 sword, (even in town, as the Thief Moogle made clear).
Then again, if you're thinking of adding another party member, I'll concede that you should hold off until then.
