This is a character design for a project of mine. I'm keeping it as much a low as possible, but I feel like showing you a piece of my plan.
The year is 3311 AD: The earth has long fallen. Following The Great Disassembly, human slaves rebelled against their machine masters and scattered their numbers across the stars. What happened to those that left the sol system is unknown. Jupiter and the inner belt of our own system, however, has become a network of colonies for mankind to survive. Amongst these is the planet Mars, which is currently fighting a war within a war within a war.
The colonies have no unified decree and mind their own business, for the most part. Within the colonies, however, chaos is present. With a middle class system abolished, the politicians and aristocrats struggle for power and worthless currency while the serfs and peasants fend for themselves. While the presence of the Renegades is indeed a threat to all Martians and they have engaged them over countless centuries, the colonies of mars not only fight them, but the other colonies themselves, and from within their own protective walls. Mars is a planet that has no sense of itself.
This character is a seasoned martian telepath commanding the Bravo Red Platoon, one of 12 army factions protecting the Proteus Colony on Mars. Martian soldiers have little to fight for. They get little commendation by the governments, occasional recognition from the commoners, and rarely get paid, if anything at all. What truly holds them together is an ideology that what they are doing is worth fighting for. True patriots down to the very last cell of their bodies, they've never forgotten what the human rebels had fought and died for to give them what they have now.
Regardless of how they're treated, the Lieutenant always felt that humanity will always triumph as a good, proud race. The Martian-Drone Treaty, however, questioned his faith in them. In exchange for a handful of humans every week, the Martian colonies would no longer see large-scale assaults by Renegade fleets. Trade routes would also be opened once more, iron ore and precious metals in exchange for canisters of liquid methane, the most valued commodity in the Sol System.
With the the freelancer service of the Martian soldiers was slowly becoming unneccessary, the soldier has fallen in an aloof state, brooding over what he's been fighting for all these years. It is during one of the days of human harvesting, however, where his true adventure begins!
The character needs a name. If anyone can think of one, let me know!
