One More Chapter - Temeraire
"Oh, it's still light out. Isn't there time for just one more chapter?"
Books and dragons. I've used those in plenty of art before, and it is a theme that I enjoy, so I found Temeraire's love of books quite entertaining.
This is the second piece of fanart I was working on. I actually finished it last night, just before the contest deadline.
I did have to rush it a bit to finish on time, though. Normally I spend much longer on these sorts of pictures. This certainly wasn't a speedpaint, but it was a quicker piece. I might have to go back over it again and refine the scale texture a bit more sometime.
Comments and criticism are always welcome.

Very nice. Cute and cool and considerably grand all at once.
I like the idea of the dragon begging for another chapter, another page.. but with the implication that the human has the power to deny him (and the dragon wouldn't then crush him).
Oorrr, the whole 'read to me or I'll eat you' angle, too.

Actually, it's the wiki. I remember a forum...but I must have remembered wrong. It's fan run and some people post their artwork on there.

I definitely think so. The dragons are quite well developed and all have a decent amount of personality. There is a good amount of interaction between the dragons and their respective captains, too. Most of the attention goes to Temeraire and Lawrence, of course.
Overall, I enjoyed the first three books quite a bit. You could always try out the first one and see what you think.

It's tough for me to get a good feel for Temeraire's size. Sometimes he seems epically large, but at other times he seems to have a similar size to most dragons. I think one of the epilogues places his mass at around 40 tons. Which is huge.
Here, I tried to make him large enough to properly carry his crew, and have a bit of room to spare.

Indeed, thats far the best picture i've ever sawn. But also, I have another thing founded...how...can i say it...i dont want to be offense, but Laurence hat taken this pendant first to levitas through the whole city and then on Levitas...how did he do that with this...huge pendant? He must be extremely strong...made out of iron, and so on...
Also, in the books it is said, that its not impressive compared to the chinese jewelry.
But still, extremely good picture. It's my Desktop-Background.

Not in this picture. Eventually he gets a stand that makes reading easier for him, i believe.
Temeraire loves books, but they are too small for him to easily read or turn pages, so Lawrence reads to him often. These scenes are some of my favorites in those novels.
I'm glad you enjoy it.

This is the web site for that series. http://www.temeraire.org/
There are currently 7 books. I haven't read them all yet, but I had to make some fan art.

interesting...temeraire, was mistaken for a lowly classed chinese dragon but was supposedly the highest kind of breed in all china..a Celestial...cool name..and how cute at the relationship between Lawrence and temeraire,i like how you draw him here,it more suits him than his info on the stories ill keep reading it!~it's very interesting!~
Great picture! I am reading Throne of Jade right now, and I love the series. This captured Temeraire's attitude very well. I can find only one exception: Laurence's coat is green, of the aviators, at least as of right now for me.
Great art! Love your rendition of Temeraire's eyes! Not many can get eyes correct, and it's always a pet peeve of mine.
